Used to make special trips across the state to play here in the late 90s and am so glad I could come back. It is such an awesome place. A few of the back tee boxes need to be mowed and maybe on 17 they could trim back some of the trees so you don’t have to fade a 6-iron 20 yards to hit the green. But overall this was a very welcome trip down memory lane for me. Katie in the pro shop was super nice.

Played 18 today. Coarse is in good shape, very hilly and some challenging holes. Will definitely play here again! Ate a Dilly burger at Curly Horse which is at the GC. It was surprisingly good!

I’m an avid golfer from Muskegon. I grew up hearing stories of what a fantastic golf course Thoroughbred was. I know they had some issues in previous years, but I played the course today and I was absolutely blown away with the incredible architecture of the course, The beauty within it, and that surrounds it. The scenery, the nature it was all incredible. Personally, I thought the course was in good shape. It looks like they’re putting Work into it and it’s paying off! Coming off of the green and driving up to the next holes tea box, it was like every hole was an experience! The staff was super nice, friendly and accommodating. I’ll admit, reading some of the previous reviews I was nervous. Today as I’m driving home, I felt obligated to post a review to let everyone know this pace is an absolute must!! It’s a tremendous value it will test your skill and it’s so much fun! If you haven’t played this course yet because of things you’ve heard, please trust me and give it a chance you will not regret it! I’ll be recommending play here from now on and I can’t wait to get back out there again!!

A Father’s Day Round Overshadowed by Poor Service The golf course itself is absolutely beautiful. Thoroughbred Golf Club is stunning, well maintained, and the golf carts were some of the most comfortable we’ve used. While I was waiting outside for my husband, I couldn’t help but notice the bartender interacting with customers. She was friendly, welcoming, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Every customer she spoke with was greeted with a smile and kindness. Unfortunately, our experience at the front desk was the complete opposite. I believe the cashier/front desk team member’s name was Katie. From the moment we arrived, there was no smile, no eye contact, and very little effort to make guests feel welcome. My friend asked if he could have his own cart because he is unable to ride with someone else due to a medical condition. He was told it was “impossible,” despite the fact that we saw other players riding individually. It was only after he returned and showed a photo of his recent surgery that she finally approved a separate cart. That should never have been necessary. To make matters worse, I was charged the same price as a rider as the golfers paid to play. We were told there was a “special” that day and riders paid the same rate as players. Since this seemed unusual, I later called to verify the policy and asked whether there was any sign posted explaining this special pricing. I was told there was not—guests were simply expected to know through word of mouth. It’s unfortunate because the course itself is excellent, but customer service is a big part of the overall experience. Especially on Father’s Day, a little kindness, compassion, and professionalism would have gone a long way. The course deserves high marks. The front desk experience does not. I sincerely hope management takes a look at how guests are being welcomed, because first impressions matter.

As others have stated, the layout is incredible. And like others have said, it is still not back to where it needs to be for it to be a destination again. But compared to some of the photos I saw from a few years ago, they are improving. We had an enjoyable round with a great pace of play. Greens rolled well. Landing areas in fairway were good. Some tee boxes need more attention. $50 price tag seemed fair.
