We had our 15th annual golf outing at Salem Hills on August 8th and it was amazing as always. Everything from the staff setting up check in tables and sponsor signs as we needed to the course conditions and of course the food for dinner. The atmosphere is always helpful, friendly and accommodating. You can’t go wrong having your event at Salem Hills.

My dad and I have played in a golf league at Salem Hills for nearly 20 years without any significant issues until the recent change in ownership. During one of our league rounds, my 85-year-old Vietnam veteran father was asked to leave the golf course because he had parked in the wrong location. Instead of handling the situation with understanding even after it was moved, he was removed from the course. It was embarrassing for him and put a damper on the entire league’s evening. In my experience, the new ownership has created an atmosphere that feels overly rigid and focused on enforcing rules rather than providing good customer service. As longtime league golfers who have supported this course for many years, we expected more flexibility and respect. The staff members we’ve interacted with have always been friendly and hardworking, and I appreciate their efforts. My concerns are directed at the management and ownership, not the employees. I also don’t believe the food offers good value for the price, and while the golf course is in decent condition, I don’t find the layout to be exceptional enough to justify overlooking the customer experience. There are many excellent public courses in the area, and based on our recent experience, our league will likely choose to play elsewhere in the future. Longtime customers deserve to be treated with respect and common sense, and unfortunately that was not our experience.

Very nice, well maintained and playable course. Clubhouse grill has tasty options for the 19th hole, especially the BLT!

We’ve come here several years in a row for the fish on Good Friday. Yesterday was horrible! Our waitress was totally overwhelmed. Two tables sat 10 min after us and already had their drinks and had ordered. Our waitress Laura hadn’t even been to our table yet. When she finally arrived with water with no ice, we requested ice and lemon for our water and we were ready to order. However she couldn’t take our order bc she had a tray full of water for another table. Ok, I get that. But we sat there another good 15 min before she came back to talk our order. And still no ice or lemon. We sat there about 20 min before getting the salad and still no ice or lemon. And she’d even apologize every time she came back for not having it!!?! And I’m sorry, but I shouldn’t have to keep asking. I finally asked a guy working there if he could get it for me. Finally our fish came out and what a joke!! We got three little pieces that were literally the size of chicken nuggets. Years past they were good size pieces. We both laughed and thought it was a joke. Literally nugget size! See the picture. It was smaller than the ramekin. I also asked for no seasoning in my fries and there was. They had to be sent back. Just all together it was a really horrible experience! We paid $18 for three fish nuggets and left hungry. We definitely got ripped off! Really disappointed!! Service and food need to do better!

Great course and an even better experience. Salem Hills Golf Course is truly a hidden gem. The course was in excellent shape, and everything looked well maintained from tee to green. We hosted an outing here for around 100 people for the second year in a row, and once again the staff did an outstanding job. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and easy to work with, which made the entire event run smoothly. Our group had a great time, and the overall experience was exactly why we came back. We’ll definitely continue hosting future outings at Salem Hills and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great course with a welcoming staff.
