I attended a small wedding here. The landscape was beautiful. The room we were in overlooked a fountain. The server was amazing, and I k ow because I have worked in catering before. She was so polite, made small conversation, and promptly removed dishes while refilling beverages. The food was amazing!

Our good friend who is a member of the Lapeer community brought us out to this beautiful course for our introduction to golf. My partner and I are avid disc golfers and ball golf is an entirely new beast. The course was amazing and the staff was top notch but my two star review is coming from how we were treated by actual members on the course. As mentioned we had never golfed before and apparently tee time was just before a league began. We were harassed 4 separate times and told repeatedly to keep up the pace to which our friend told them that the owners or club shouldn't have scheduled us so close to their league if it was going to be an issue. We were doing phenomenal for first timers and in my opinion couldn't have been going the slow because I basically stopped playing to ensure we weren't lagging, although we were approached regardless. We come from a sport like disc golf where everyone is welcoming and understanding of begginers. I understand its an expensive country club also but we bought golf outfits and paid money to enjoy an experience we were rushed out of due to poor planning on their part. We spent hundreds of dollars at thos establishment between rounds and drinks and equipment. Again, lovely beautiful well maintined course, the people were generally nice but man, I've never felt so unwelcomed to a sport in my life. We were literally backed up waiting for a group ahead of us and a guy drove up and was like whats going on why is everyone just standing here...literally couldn't start playing yet.... I dont want to come off as insensitive to their league and how important it is to stay on time and stuff but I wouldn't schedule tee times that close or maybe ask skill level to ensure they finish at a decent time. Hope they do better next time, growing the community and new members is how a club like that got to be so good in the first place so to be treated like that is super disheartening.

My 2 brothers and nephew came in from Fenton and experienced the rain as well. We were soaked and decided to call it quits. We did not experience any rudeness from the employees. There was an event going on and although a little inconvenient, they offered us some time to go grab something to eat, wait out the rain, and come back and finish our round. Similar to other reviews I have seen for Lapeer Country Club, this review is not necessarily about the course itself. Its a beautiful course. However, my husband and I got married here one year ago and recieved a voucher for a free 18 holes with 2 carts that expires today (1 year after our wedding date). We decided that even though I have never golfed before that for our 1st anniversary we would come golf at the course we got married at. When we arrived everything was fine and we only needed one cart. Being that I have never golfed before and my husband is new to the sport we decided I would hit a few for fun and just use his clubs. We learned fairly quickly that this is not allowed and we're stalked, then approached by a staff member and told that they received a complaint that he was "teaching me" and that if I am going to "play" then I need my own bag of clubs. This would mean losing our spot, going back to the pro shop and paying for rental clubs for me to hit a few balls. I completely understand that these are the rules but we were unaware of this rule. As soon as we were made aware, I stayed in the cart. We were not intentionally breaking any rules. Aside from that, we really weren't going slow or bothering anyone to the point that we should have been "complained" about. The staff member even stated that he doesn't understand the complaint because when he was watching us it didn't seem that we were doing anything to bother anyone. Regardless, that is their rule and we respected that and I stopped playing and rode in the cart for the remainder of our time. 4 holes later, we were approached AGAIN by a different staff member. He asked how many holes we had left and was told that we were complained about because I was playing. I told him that we were already approached and I haven't played since. It was very irritating because we felt like as beginners we were being treated poorly and didn't feel very welcomed, it was so frustrated to be scolded when we were respectful and were just trying to enjoy our 1st anniversary. The individuals playing behind us seemed to be on some sort of league and I am pretty certain they were the ones doing the complaining. We were so kind to everyone even after this situation and when my husband tried talking to them with a simple "how are you today" we were stared down with no response. We absolutely will not be returning and unfortunately our 1st anniversary was not what we had hoped. Im honestly just sad and feel really disheartened about the whole situation because our wedding was so beautiful and the staff were so wonderful but clearly the golf course is a whole different experience.
