Sweetgrass Golf Club is an amazing course with great conditions. There aren't any breathtaking views but a lot of good views with great golf design. The double green on 9 and 18 isn't unique but really works in this setup. Love the wide fairways. Greens are undulating and fast. Hole 4 and 13 are really challenging. Overall, best course in upper Michigan even better than Graywalls.

Beautiful course in some of the greatest conditions I’ve ever played. Greens are just insanely hard. Had possibly the greatest FW% and GIR% I’ve ever had matched with 42 putts for a really weird 89. Some of the putts felt like I had a higher chance outside of 30’ than inside 6’. Absolutely recommend though.

Nice course, pretty wide open which surprised me. And windy. Wasn't expecting to be hurried up by the ranger, when you pay that price, I would think the course isnt just jamming in tee times for extra 200 bucks, rather to focusing on the golfer experience. Also, not real private experience between holes..played more like a medium country club rather than a Premier where you feel like you are playing alone with your group. Enjoyed the island green although it took me three tries to hit it! Course was in good shape for early season, would be a lot tougher when grass grows long in the rough.

Our group of 12 just wrapped up an incredible weekend golf trip to Island Resort & Casino, and it exceeded every expectation. The rooms were comfortable and well-appointed, the entire staff was friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming, and the service was outstanding from arrival to departure. The real stars, however, were the golf courses. Both Sage Run and Sweetgrass were in absolutely pristine condition—immaculately maintained with greens that rolled true, beautiful fairways, and breathtaking scenery that made every round memorable. The carts were in excellent shape, the pace of play was fantastic, and every staff member we encountered went out of their way to make sure our group had an exceptional experience. It’s not often that a destination delivers on every promise, but Island Resort & Casino did exactly that. This weekend set a new standard for our golf trips, and we left already talking about coming back next year. Without question, this has earned a permanent spot as our annual golf getaway.
