One of the worst golf trip experiences I have ever had. From the arrival, cart guy was extremely rude and lazy. The blonde lady in the pro shop was also rude, short and overly aggressive about our grouping. Starter was on old guy who was also overly rude about our grouping. Pace of play was atrocious. Every hole from #1 had a group on the green,fairway and tee. Not a ranger in sight to regulate, even though starter was assuring us that slow play would not be tolerated and would be patrolling course(never saw one ranger.) Playing partners cart almost died on the last hole, and upon finishing, same cart guy was rude and lazy again. Made a smart comment about the last foursome being done for 20 minutes.(4 some ahead of the 2 some we were waiting on had an open fairway/green every-time we saw them, which slowed the twosome down who was in front of us, of course it took us a while, an extra hour to be exact.) Would not recommend this course. Hawks eye was a great experience, everyone was nice and courteous and very welcoming. Only reason this gets 2 stars is the course was great and set up beautifully.

Loved the course, very challenging and wonderful fast and true yet receptive green. Some awesome houses to look at as well. Patty in the pro shop was our hero after a booking debacle. Not only did she get us out but we hardly saw another golfer all morning. What a great morning of golf!

The golf course starter was the biggest jerk I have ever met on a golf course. We played on September 27th at around 10am. The way we were treated was so unbelievable that for the first few minutes we thought he had to be joking. We tried multiple times to cool things down and be friendly with him. He was condescending way past the point of insult. After the round I called and asked to speak to the manager. Apparently they were busy so I left my name and phone number. I never received a call back. I will never come back to this golf course and do my best to make sure no one else does, either.

Went to the Cedar River resort for Dec. 26-29 mini ski vacation. Weather didn’t cooperate but enjoyed the company of family and wine tasting up by Traverse City. Fun time but…. The resort staff were woefully uninformed about anything and everything. Staff had no knowledge on the shuttle schedule, restaurant hours (at the various restaurants on the shanty creek property), services provided and amenities. Actually, it’s was quite humorous to compare notes with the family on what they were told by staff. The one and only Top Golf suite was booked up the entire time, pool hours were basically unknown until they covered it late night. Wait staff at the Shanty Creek Lakeview restaurant were clueless - we were sat in a mostly empty restaurant then nobody came over to get our drink order. Manager was rude when we inquired if we could get menus. It was then we discovered that there was no menu service, just a mediocre $25/head buffet. The suite we had was clean and nice, but the kitchen sink disposal didn’t work and was hopelessly plugged, the refrigerator shelves were broken and we lost a bottle of wine as a result. Overall, a beautiful resort that needs some personal development, training and management.

Pros: Great greens and very cool layout. Cons: Us 12 in our annual golf trip played here two years ago and the conditions have fallen off big time. The course was backed up and no rangers were pushing the slow group in front of us. By the halfway house, we were 35 minutes behind pace and were waiting on every tee box. We posted a 6 hour round by everything was said and done. Leaving us late for our 2nd round of the day at the resort. Luckily they were kind enough to still push us out because it was their sister course making us late. Too expensive for what you get. Would rather play Hawkeye twice.
