Our wedding reception took place on 08/16/25, and unfortunately, the experience leading up to and including our wedding day was incredibly disappointing due to the lack of professionalism and organization from Nancy.
Despite providing Nancy with a very detailed seating chart—including table numbers, number of seats, and where the larger tables were to be placed—everything upstairs was completely wrong on the day of our wedding. During our visits prior to the wedding, we asked numerous times if this was okay, and if this was doable we were brushed off with “whatever you want.” Because the seating chart was not followed, my mother had to spend time upstairs fixing the tables instead of helping me get ready on my wedding day.
Nancy was rude and highly unprofessional toward the bridal party. Our rehearsal on 08/15 was by far the worst rehearsal experience we could have imagined. She seemed far more focused on a golfing event that was finishing up and made it feel like our wedding was not a priority. When we asked questions, we were given the runaround and left completely confused. At one point, I was yelled at to “get back to the end of the line.” She was speaking extremely softly, making it impossible to hear what she was explaining. We left the rehearsal feeling worse and more confused than if we hadn’t done one at all. On our wedding day (08/16), guests witnessed her yelling at her staff, which was extremely unprofessional—ironically, it was that same staff who ultimately saved the day.
During our wedding day, while taking photos with our bridal party after the ceremony, Nancy came up to us and practically forced champagne on my husband and me. We felt obligated to drink it, which no couple should ever feel on their wedding day. Additionally, during our visits prior to the wedding, we were told we would have access to a golf cart to get around the course for photos—this was never offered.
My mother also expressed multiple times during our visits that we did not want any food to run out during dinner and was assured this would not happen and that Nancy would be available to help. Unfortunately, food was not fully out before tables were called, we ran out of food and multiple times throughout the night we were unable to find Nancy when assistance was needed.
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that I would NEVER host another event at Shakers Farm Country Club. What should have been one of the most exciting days of our lives turned into an incredibly stressful and frustrating experience.
With all of this being said, my husband and I want to sincerely thank the staff who worked our wedding day. They were absolutely phenomenal and truly saved the day with their professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help. Without you, we probably would’ve have blown up at Nancy. SO THANK YOU!
