Historic and challenging 9 hole private course that is well maintained. Relaxed atmosphere where new members are welcomed and tee time are readily available. Club Pro runs great tournaments and keeps the everyday pace of play on track.

SCC is a hidden gem in eastern Mass. A challenging 9-hole course (with a bonus 18th finishing hole!) which is kept in excellent shape by the grounds crew throughout the year and cared for well by the members. The practice area is excellent to hone your game, with a full driving range, including grass tees to work on your irons, and a chipping green to work on your short game. Have a seat at the bar and within minutes you'll be chatting and laughing with other members there. Bartenders and wait staff are friendly and top-notch. Food is great and so are the rotating specials.

The course is very well-kept and strikes a perfect balance of being challenging yet fair. Prepare for some long par 4s that will test your long game, but the conditions are consistently top-notch. Only one par 3 (3rd hole) and one par 5 (8th hole - and you're not getting there in two shots unless you drive 300+ yards) Beyond the greens, the atmosphere is what really sets SCC apart. It’s not a stuffy environment at all — the members are down-to-earth and the staff is genuinely friendly. The clubhouse is fairly new and features nice, clean locker rooms and a well-stocked pro shop. Pro Tip: Hang out on the outdoor patio. It’s the perfect spot when its warm to grab a reasonably priced burger, wings, or salad (my favorite: buffalo chicken salad w/the cornbread croutons), watch sports on the outdoor TVs, and see golfers tee off on 1 or finish up on 9.

We explored Sharon Country Club as a potential fit for our family, and the experience was deeply disappointing. From the beginning, communication was poor. It took months to receive responses to our inquiries, which already raised concerns about professionalism and how the club is run. What stood out most, however, was the interaction during our visit. We were told, “I don’t think this is the right club for you.” While that may have been intended as a general statement, the tone and context made it feel exclusionary and unwelcoming. Instead of taking the time to understand us as a family, it felt like assumptions were being made about whether we “fit” a certain mold. The overall impression was that the club operates with a very narrow view of who belongs. It came across as a place that prefers a specific type of member — in how they look, interact, and present themselves — rather than embracing a diverse and inclusive community. Beyond that, the facilities themselves felt outdated and not aligned with the expectations of a modern club. The environment and operations gave the impression of being stuck in a much earlier era, both in terms of infrastructure and mindset. It’s unfortunate, because the location is convenient and we genuinely hoped it could work. But between the lack of responsiveness, the unwelcoming experience, and the overall culture, it was clearly not the right fit for our family. First impressions matter — and this one made it easy to walk away.

While it’s often said that Disney World is the “happiest place on earth,” since joining Sharon Country Club six years ago, I now respectfully and with a smile beg to differ. SCC, as we members affectionately call it, isn’t just a golf course. It is a full blown community of people who enjoy golf, but absolutely LOVE having a great time. Like any great community, the members of SCC come from all walks of life. Different backgrounds, different professions, different skill levels and very different golf swings. But we all have one thing in common. We genuinely enjoy being there. Whether it is a competitive round, a casual nine, or just showing up for a drink and some laughs, there is always something going on and usually someone chirping you about that last putt you definitely should have made. And let’s talk about the course. It is beautifully maintained and deceptively challenging. Do not let the nine hole layout fool you into thinking it is some kind of par three executive course on steroids, because it is not. This track will test you, humble you, and occasionally make you question your life choices, which of course is exactly what good golf is supposed to do. Beyond the course, we have a newer clubhouse that is just six years old and really brings people together. The food is great, the drinks are even better, and the atmosphere makes it easy to stay just one more hour, which as many of us know rarely means one more hour. With the recent addition of three outdoor flat screen TVs, there is now an even better excuse to stick around, catch a game, and enjoy a perfect day or night with great people. At the end of the day, SCC is not just a place to play golf. It is a place to connect, unwind, and have a hell of a good time. And if that is not the happiest place on earth, it is a pretty strong contender, especially since my Space Mountain days are long behind me.
