Boston residents can enjoy this beautiful course @ $41 only. I walked but it was a bit challenging as some holes are hilly. Many holes need blind shots so that you have to be extremely careful. Geese are everywhere and they don’t afraid of you. #15 par5 hole can be a signature hole. From the tee elevated, you command a long downhill drive. When you have a nice cut driver shot, then you may try second shot land on green. After playing the both, I prefer William J. Devine course.

Spectacular golf course. Excellent layout. Challenging walk. Conditions were as good as any private course I’ve played and better than most. So much history. Thank you to my friend, Gerry for inviting me to play!! Torre Pines, Bethpage Black, and now GW added as top muni!

As a huge fan of George Wright, I was extremely disappointed in the course condition and pro shop interaction. It's not a hidden gem anymore as more YouTubers and magazines start to commercialize this place, which I knew would happen eventually given the terrific Donald Ross design. It is still miles ahead of any other public course in the area (but there isn't much competition).

I'm very challenging and well maintained course. A municipal course with low prices for world class golf!!!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but after my experience at George Wright Golf Course, I feel obligated to warn other golfers. As an attorney who deals with professionalism and standards every single day, I can confidently say this was one of the most poorly managed public experiences I’ve had in years. I’ve played courses all across New England, from private clubs to basic municipal tracks, and somehow this place managed to combine slow play, terrible conditions, and rude management into one exhausting afternoon. First, the pace of play was unbelievable. Five-hour rounds apparently seem normal here. Groups were stacked on top of each other from the first tee onward, with no marshal in sight actually doing anything to speed things up. Every hole felt like waiting in line at the DMV. By the back nine, half the golfers looked more frustrated than excited to be out there. Golf is supposed to be relaxing, but this felt like punishment. The course conditions were equally disappointing. Fairways looked like they hadn’t been maintained consistently, bunkers were packed down like concrete, and several greens were covered in patchy spots that rolled unpredictably. For a course that constantly talks about its history and reputation, the actual playing conditions did not reflect that at all. I’ve seen smaller-town municipal courses in far better shape for half the price. What really pushed the experience over the edge, though, was the attitude from staff members. Simple questions were met with dismissive answers, and there seemed to be zero concern about customer experience. At one point, my group tried to ask about the pace issues ahead of us, and we were basically treated like we were inconveniencing them by speaking. That’s not how you run a golf course — especially one charging premium weekend rates. The entire atmosphere felt more chaotic than welcoming. Loud groups everywhere, no organization, and absolutely no effort to maintain standards on the course. If you enjoy waiting endlessly, putting on damaged greens, and feeling like management couldn’t care less whether you return, then maybe this is the place for you. There are far too many quality golf courses in the Boston area to waste your time and money here. I genuinely cannot understand the hype surrounding this course. Based on my experience, George Wright Golf Course is massively overrated and easily one of the worst golf experiences I’ve had.
