Attended an event last night. The staff was one of the most unprofessional and unskilled Ive ever seen. During the keynote speaker's address, all that could be heard was the clinking and clacking of pans, and plate covers, and wait staff speaking in elevated tones. It was so disruptive, the speaker kept looking in their direction hoping to take a hint; they didnt. Someone from the audience had to walk over and tell them to please stop. How embarrassing. Then, as dinner service was happening, the waitress passed one plate to the person on my right, and told him to pass it around. She then continued this until everyone at the table had a plate. So, essentially, we served ourselves. Time for clean up, she prematurely removed my husband's plate when I told her she may remove MY plate. My husband wasn't done eating. I will address the quality of the meal in a moment. Dessert followed, and it was a cheesecake covered with a red sauce. My husband said not to eat it, as it is cherry, and I am allergic. I asked the waitress to remove the cheesecake because im allergic, and in a very snarky tone asked if I wanted another one. I said. Yes, please, I would appreciate that, as I love cheesecake. The waitress rolled her eyes. Time for coffee next, and there was no sugar. There was Splenda, and Equal, but no sugar. I asked the waitress in Spanish (which I speak fluently) if she could get us some sugar. She said yes, but never did. After a few moments, I asked another waitress (in English) for sugar, and that there was none at the coffee station. I was told to wait. A few minutes pass, and now my husband approached a third waitress and asked for sugar. She told him we dont have any. He suggested that perhaps she look elsewhere. Keep in mind, it was not just he and I who wanted sugar, it was our whole table, and who knows who else at other tables. That waitress did not return with sugar either. Eventually, a guest found 3 packets of sugar, and we shared it with our table. The food: mediocre at best. Flavorless, colorless chicken. Wilted, flavorless Green beans. The mashed potatoes were the only edible item on the plate, after adding salt and pepper. Cheesecake was warm. For such an expensive and "prestigious" place, it was so subpar. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Two stars and not one because the space itself was pretty, and clean.

I called on behalf of my sister to get some information and was shocked by how unprofessionally I was treated. A man named Mike answered the phone and rudely said, “Why do you keep calling here, Janet?”—even though it was my first time calling. His tone was snappy and dismissive, and he told me to stop calling without hearing me out. As someone with family involved in this organization, I’m disappointed and reconsidering future involvement. No business should tolerate this kind of behavior from staff.

I attended a 80th Birthday Party at this venue and tried to present a beautiful "80 Years in the Making" video. 2 weeks earlier, I met with Rich (general manager) to make sure my laptop connected with Thorny Lea's projector. Meaning: Projector on floor, leaning lopsided against a wall - power on, we see the video on the wall. Okay, it works - power off. Rich was quick. I asked to see the projector screen and how it would be set up, etc. Rich easily dismissed me stating that it would depend on how the room would be set up, blah, blah, blah. The night of the event, I arrived 50 minutes early and saw there was no screen, no projector set up. I found Sharon (event manager) who informed me that they had no idea the projector was to be used. "Rich is in NY for the weekend!" She set the projector on a table and we tried to figure out HOW to use it. Also, the screen was too short - so the people in the room couldn't see everything. Sharon really did try her best to help me, but Rich handles the visual equipment. Finally, with the AC not circulating in the middle of JULY, they put out floor fans to help. It didn't. It was HOT! I was really surprised that this beautiful venue was so shabby in its accommodations.
