Description

Gunpowder Golf Course delivers a relaxed, public-course experience that generally balances playability with a few strategic moments. The layout often rewards golfers who keep the ball in play and choose conservative targets into greens. Trouble tends to appear when you force aggressive lines, especially if you’re trying to cut corners or attack tucked pins. The course can feel very friendly when you’re hitting fairways, but it becomes a scramble test when you’re missing on the wrong sides. Overall, Gunpowder is dependable local golf—comfortable, fair, and easy to enjoy on a regular basis.

Great simple old school Course , interesting holes and great staff. I left a club and it was found and they held it until I came back to get my daughter from school. Fair pricing and good tee times .

No tee times so its very hectic, If you try and call in advance for a big group they say you are fine until you show up. Very unorganized. They did not tell us a league was going on right behind us until they were freaking out seeing our large group we told them about weeks in advance. They were actively cutting grass in your face on many of the holes. Many of the personnel playing in the league and on the course were very rude and off the charts on confrontation. Course is not high quality, not worth the headache of no tee time and angry golf staff and players.

If you are a scratch golfer, gunpowder may not be the course for you. If you are a mid to high handicapper, an infrequent player, or one who doesn't need the trappings of a high-end course, Gunpowder is for you! The course is reasonably challenging, rewarding precise shot placement over long drives, and the postage - stamp greens will test your putting skill. The staff is very nice, and will go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant golf experience. They offer a late day and twilight specials that can't be beat by any other 18 hole course in the area, and they have a 9 hole "pitch and putt" area to work o short game. For the price, this course merits 5 stars!

Played here on Friday, 08/23/20. 11:20am we tee off. Hole #1, when we were ready for our second shot, noticed a guy digging a new hole on the putting green. Our mind was puzzled but we decided to wait for him to finish without complaining on a hot fairway. Finished hole #1 & 2 and moved on to the hole #3, when we were about to make our 2nd shot again, notice this same guy is on the green again making a new hole… At this time this wasn’t okay anymore so we called the office and ask them politely to send someone to stop him. Moved on to the hole #4, standing on the tee box ready for our driver shot, we see this guy again on the green making a new hole!!! This was ridiculous and unbelievable for whatever excuse they have. He turned his face to our way and saw us but he didn’t care. So we decide to pass the hole and when we were passing him, we told him he should not doing this when golfers are playing. He seems doesn’t get the problem and keeps doing what he was doing. After we finish playing, we stopped by the office and asked for manager so we can about this incident. Young lady name Sarah comes up to me so I started explaining what happened thinking she is the manager. When I start explaining what happened, she cut me off and first thing came out of her mouth was “did you talk to him nicely?” Really???? Instead of saying sorry for the inconvenient or sorry for the trouble? I don’t know how more nicely I suppose to talked with this guy who interrupted our play multiple times. Found out she is not a manager and figured out that I will be wasting my time & energy talking to her, so I asked for a manager again but she says they are in the meeting and not available to come out and talk with me… This was real BS… When paying customer have problem with establishment, someone who is in charge or has power to handle the issue need to be readily available for their customers. Anyway, this place wasn’t that place so I left my number and asked manger to call me. 3-4 hours later, no call. so I called and ask if manager is available, same lady, Sarah says manager is already left. What a place... Our precious Friday afternoon was ruined and our time and money was well wasted. If you like to have a good time playing golf, please Don’t go here. This place is a joke. **Updates: Looks like owner replied my review saying that the manager will reaching me out shortly. Today is day 4 since I left my number. No call from manager whatsoever. This Itself explains how bad this place is from top to bottom. Do not expect to receive any descent customer service from this place** I will be contacting consumer reports for the improper service we’ve received for the money we paid.

Been coming here for the last month. It’s always been slow because they don’t do tee times, but they offer a considerable military discount during the week, so it’s great when I’m trying to squeeze a round in between work and family commitments. I had an extremely disappointing experience today however. Happy Juneteenth, I’m happy for all the men and women who are celebrating today, and the progress we’ve made as a nation. That being said, pulled up at the course today and there must have been 1000 people here. First tee box there were a dozen carts lined up waiting to hit. I asked how long the queue is and they said “probably like 15 minutes”. I straight up said no way fellas. It’s gonna take you at least 40 to get through that crowd. Then some other idiot goes “oh it’s actually moving quicker than i thought, not that bad”. So I capitulated and gave it a try. Pulled out my military ID, and they said “oh we’re not doing discounts today”. Should’ve left right then, but I didn’t. Who woulda thought, took 45 minutes for me to tee off. Went back into the pro shop to buy a snack, was told I need to put a $5 minimum on my card, so I had to buy a stupid used tp5 golf ball to eat a bag of peanuts. After finishing 1 hole, the second tee box still had 5+ carts waiting to go, so I turned around and walked back to the pro shop. Asked if I could get a refund because I’m not waiting 30 minutes on each tee box. They said “No we’re not doing refunds”. I used to put up with the course for convenience. And I get it’s a busy day can’t do anything about the crowd, but it seems like the staff here did nothing to prepare for the holiday, and don’t even have a lick of common sense when it comes to course management. If you’re a half decent golfer who’s trying to juggle your passion for the game with work and family life, do not come here. It will just drive you crazy. Mostly pissed about not getting the military discount. Seems like they’re just trying to get an extra nickel out of people on a busy day.
