I didn’t stay at the resort, this time. I simply went for the Thanksgiving Buffet that was served today and it was the BEST, it’s ever been!! And I’ve been for several years in a row!! I’m certain that Melanie Avery, had everything to do with it!! The Food was Great!! The Service was Great!! She runs a “tight ship” as I like to call it!! It’s a beautiful resort!!

This was our honeymoon trip. We stayed for 4 nights. At no point did we receive maid service to replenish our towels. When I tried to call the front desk, I discovered the phone was not functioning. We went to the front desk and learned their phones had been down for weeks. So we requested room service in person and were told that we would receive it the next morning. The lady behind the counter asked us what time we planned to leave the next morning and we told her between 9 and 9:30. She made a note of that on a pad of paper. The following day we took a day trip to Alexandria. We were gone for roughly 8 hours. We returned to the room to find that maid service had not come. I would also like to add that it was apparent they use a water softener. The bathtub did not have an antislip coating. These two factors led to me slipping several times and earning a couple of bruises on the side of my leg. It is obvious where the maintenance crew focuses the majority of their efforts as the golf course was very well maintained. The nature trails and the pools and hot tub left much to be desired. The squeaky wheel gets the grease however. When we brought the lack of maid service to the attention of the front desk and asked for a one night reimbursement, our request was granted. Overall, the trip was not a waste because I was able to spend several nights alone with my new husband and we are very happy to finally be married. But ultimately, if golf isn't your thing, find another place to stay.

I love the little bar at the resort, its so cozy and fun. The bartender and waitress were great. We had a great time. The sauna and jacuzzi were clean amd nice.

This place must have been really nice at one point, but not anymore. My wife and I arrived around 7:15 yesterday evening after a long day on the road. We were exhausted and starving. When we checked in, we noted how nice the property looked as we approached the hotel. The front desk clerk (who was very friendly and helpful) told us the restaurant would begin serving supper at 7:30, and gave us some rather vague instructions on how to get to the building where our room was located. Arriving after sunset was a big mistake, because there aren't really any exterior lights on the property, so be prepared to find your way across a dark parking lot as you look for the sidewalk. As we approached the building we were swarmed by all sorts of bugs that covered the glass doors. The hallway was stuffy and damp, with bugs swarming around light fixtures, and smelled of mildew and Febreeze. The room was slightly less damp-feeling but still had that same smell. A brief look around revealed dead bugs and a thick layer of dust in spots; the room clearly hadn't been cleaned in months. Now, the "Sabine Social Room": Every surface in this restaurant was shiny and had a greasy sheen to it, as if everything had been rubbed with ham. The restaurant staff all looked and acted like characters from "The Hills Have Eyes" or "Deliverance", with one bartender sticking a tub of rice pilaf in the face of a customer who had ordered gumbo. What kind of manager chooses to staff a RESTAURANT with these kind of people? LOL. And this place is a "fOuR sTaR hOteL"? Maybe 25 years ago but now? Give me a break. In summary: Place is a dump. Restaurant employees practice sanitation methods that could make someone very sick. You probably shouldn't go here.

Extremely disappointed resort has only 1 walk in shower for a handicap person. That room is only available on lower floor with staff admission elevators don't always work. Unacceptable
