Fantastic golf course, very well laid out. We had winds around 20 mph and it was still extremely playable (shot a 75.) Greens well kept, fairways receptive, some cool 10-12 foot alligators hanging out around the water area so maybe don't go looking near the water for a shank shot lol. Very nice locker rooms as well.

Yesterday it rained about 2 inches. The Golden Nugget opened, cart path only, while other courses did not. The course crew did an amazing job cleaning up the course for play and it was in terrific shape. What a great track. Don’t miss the opportunity to play this course.

Drove to Lake Charles from Houston this past Saturday to drop some cash at the casinos. Made a quick albeit late 3:45 tee off time for me and my nephew. Pro Shop personnel, a young woman, was super friendly and professional. Pro Shop was clean and well stocked. The round cost less than $100 @ $80 something which was great. We teed off and were pleasantly surprised at how good the course condition was. From tee to green , well manicured and excellent shape. Somehow, we managed to play in just under 3-1/2 hours with no one in front of us and no one behind which is a dream...unbelievable really. The closing cart personnel came out and checked on us when we were on 15...it seems we were the last ones on the course...I think it was just after 7pm...sun pretty high in the sky....I told him we'd wrap it up quickly and he said no worries, take your time just checking in on you. Very nice guy! We finished up and were super happy...I may just skip Contraband Bayou from now on. I only wish you guys would tie Comps to the golf course so I can play golf while my wife gambles away our retirement....lol....Anyway, Kudos to the Golf Club and staff. Tim J

Customer service was awesome! Our waitress Faith was the best. She has a beautiful spirit. We all enjoyed our food. We were all very impressed for our first time having brunch there.

We expect a certain level with any Tilman Fertitta resort. Golden Nugget disappointed in many “service” ways. We kept saying “If Tilman were here he wouldn’t like that”. At check-in the staff kept looking past us or talking with other guests at the same time, Making our experience take longer. The smoke bomb that hits you right when you arrive was powerful as well. There must be a better way to enjoy this beautiful hotel and casino without smoke overload . The hallway to our room smelled like mildew right in front of our door. The room itself was beautiful but the sheets, towels and even toilet paper felt uncomfortably cheap. We play golf first and enjoy pool after. I couldn’t believe that the golf club had 0 women’s apparel! Zero. But the women’s locker room was beautiful. What kind of message is THAT sending? On the course we enjoy having cocktails and to our surprise the cart girl said they only accept cash. Why??. We couldn’t even charge to our room or start a tab. That only hurts her. So we had to take the time to go to the club house to get our own drinks. Back at the pool. The lazy river was fun but they had rotted wood and wires hanging with PVC across one turn. Again, Tilman may not have liked that. Breakfast in our room. Arrived with an over abundance of condiments too numerous to count. Yet, missing syrup that took me 15 minutes to get after I called. Housekeeping was less than average. They would replace our towels and make the bed, but leave our whole breakfast and trash everywhere. I even put most of it in a paper bag for them to take and they left it in the room. I doubt we will be back. I hope Mr. Fertita is reading this because I know that is not his standard in his hotels.
