City Park Golf Course is truly a gem in the heart of Baton Rouge. The course is impressively well maintained, especially considering its age and history. The greens are smooth, the fairways are cared for, and the overall layout feels intentional and thoughtfully preserved. You can tell there’s pride taken in keeping this course in good shape. The staff are another standout. From check-in to finishing your round, everyone is friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. It has that relaxed, old-school muni atmosphere where you feel appreciated whether you’re a regular or playing for the first time. What really sets City Park apart, though, is its historic charm. Playing here feels like stepping back in time. The mature trees, subtle elevation changes, and classic design give the course a character you just don’t find in newer layouts. It’s a reminder of what golf felt like decades ago — simple, walkable, and pure. Whether you’re looking for a quick round, a place to sharpen your game, or just want to experience a piece of Baton Rouge golf history, City Park Golf Course is absolutely worth playing.

My two boys and I love playing a quick round at city park. Its the most beautiful scenery and it has hills! They are constantly working to make it better so there are some hitches here and there but this is my favorite BREC course for the hills and scenery.

The Baton Rouge City Park Golf Course is a very well kept 9-hole course adjacent to the University Lakes. The prices are fair and the difficulty is easy to moderate. The course itself doubles as a FootGolf course, where individuals can essentially play golf by kicking the soccer ball. What is nice about this course is that it is built up higher than the surrounding area so when it rains the course stays fairly dry.

I used to play this course everyday 10 years ago. I moved out of the area and out of nostalgia i decided to come play. Should have left the memories alone. I shot 1 over but the course is in terrible condition. Slow players and stupid players. Tee boxes arent cut well and greens are in rough shape. People dont repair divots on greens or tee boxes. They will not let you play through. The only good thing is it cost me $32 to play 18 holes. Cant find that value anywhere else but not a good course.

Played November 11, 2023. Course is looking better. The new cart path is done and runs through the whole course. The greens are still very slow but in better shape. Fairways aren't great but are slightly improved. $25 on a Saturday so not terrible.
