Classic golf & tennis country club that has a great community and is very inviting. The golf course has beautiful old trees and tight fairways, the tennis center is quite popular and has a highly talented pro with a large youth program. Food and beverage options are above average with some wonderful views from the terrace in the summer time. The pool is the heart of this club in the summers. There are lots of families but never feels too crowded. There is a tiki bar as well as food service in the pool area. The swimming and diving teams are quite popular and they tend to have some talented coaches. This is a 100 year old club which brings some history and charm however the facilities are starting to show their age. The men's locker room is nice an even includes an attendant. However the women's locker room is an absolute dump; quite embarrassing actually compared to all the other wonderful features of this club. However this is currently a committee in place that is exploring a clubhouse renovation and golf course update. Beware those improvements will come with a big price tag but will likely make this the nicest club in the state. We very much enjoyed our time as members here and would highly recommend to any family looking for a club in the Des Moines area.

We attended a graduation party here. If you're looking for a nice place to host events I would suggest looking here. The hall was nicely decorated. Server was prompt and food was fantastic! We did not do any golfing but our friends really enjoy the grounds!

Went for the Principal Charity Classic. Wonderful views, with plenty of rolling hills and big beautiful trees. The setup was perfect with never a far walk for a beverage, food or restroom facilities. Volunteers and staff were helpful and attentive. Overall excellent experience with plenty of vendors. I know they don't control the weather but it was a perfect weekend as well.

A long time Des Moines legend. Wonderful place for party. I played in a band that played Christmas music for clients and was impressed with the entire facility.

Wakonda Club is one of the premier golf experiences in Iowa and truly lives up to its reputation. From the moment you arrive, everything about the club feels professional, organized, and first-class. The people involved — from the staff to the event team — do an outstanding job creating a welcoming and high-level experience. Everyone we interacted with treated the day with care, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality. The golf course itself was in beautiful condition. The fairways, greens, bunkers, and overall property were all incredibly well maintained, and the setting is one of the most scenic we have seen in the Des Moines area. We were fortunate to capture some sunrise drone footage during our visit, and Wakonda produced some of the most beautiful visuals we have ever filmed. As the home of the Principal Charity Classic, Wakonda is a fitting venue for PGA TOUR Champions golf. The professionals are lucky to compete on a course and property like this each summer. Overall, Wakonda Club is a special place with exceptional people, a beautiful golf course, and a first-class atmosphere from top to bottom. A truly memorable experience.
