Description

Cedar Rapids' St. Andrews is a classic, accessible 18 with a busy league calendar. The par-70 layout stretches just over 6,200 yards and emphasizes approach play and putting. Wind and smallish targets keep scores honest. It dates to the mid-1960s and was designed by Mike Hall. Practice facilities include a driving range and short-game areas.

We always enjoy playing at St. Andrew's! A well- maintained, beautiful course. The East side is especially challenging! The restaurant/ pub is always a great stop: many menu options, all have been good, and outstanding views of the course! Would highly recommend!

We have been taking group lessons here! They are great! We have not halved before- the instruction is really practical and focused. The instructor offers suggestions in form, holding the clubs, everything really. Some are there for refreshers to improve their game. We have used the driving range. We can practice putting and chipping before driving. Set nice people everywhere. Today we were able to stop in to their restaurant! We love it here!!

This 36 hole golf course offers two tracks: Jesmek (aka Lakewood) and St. Andrews. We played Jesmek today as a foursome in mid-November. Course conditions were very good, with two exceptions. (1) Goose droppings were prolific on the course, so walking was a mess in places (2) Some areas had a lot of leaves on the geound when they should have been addressed by this time of year. Staff in the pro shop, starter hut, beverage cart and restaurant were all excellent at their jobs and pleasant. Note that reservations for greens fees only are prepaid, and riding carts or push carts are an additional fee you pay at the course. Some in our party thought greens fees covered cart costs as well, so be aware of this before you book. Riding carts had cold weather covers, which helped players stay warm - that was very welcome as it was colder than expected the day we played. Par 3s on Jesmek were really long compared to other courses. When white par 3 tees are 170+ it's a bit unexpected and harder to hit greens under windy conditions. This slowed pace of play at times. On a weekend we played in just over 4 hours. Not bad, not great. St. Andrews is open virtually every day, so it's a great choice of play during the winter months. The driving range is great, with heated bays. I recommend St. Andrews for practice and play, just be prepared for a messy round if you're a walker. Enjoy your round.

Just had a banquet event last weekend. I have to mention events manager Kim. So accommodating, so easy to work with. She's such an great asset to this company. The food, the venue, and the entire staff are wonderful. I look forward to doing business with this location again.

Played the St. Andrew's course, be warned the entire course is DESIGNED FOR LEFT HANDED GOLFERS!!! I golf all over Chicagoland and the country and I've never played a course where you have to aim left on ALMOST EVERY SINGLE HOLE. Most holes you are punished if your tee shot is straight. And if you struggle with a slice or even slightly hit the ball to the right, you're screwed the whole round. I like target golf and challenging courses (see Lost Marsh in Hammond and the Preserve in Addison, two of my favorites). I also just learn the art of a draw and so I actually relish the chance to hit left on some holes during my rounds. NOT EVERY SINGLE HOLE!!!!!! If you drive straight on hole 1, your deep into woods, ball is gone. If you drive straight on hole 18, you're in the water. And every hole in between puts you in jail if you are SLIGHTLY right and even straight in several other cases. Even if I was a pro at drawing/ aiming left, I'd never want to play a course where I had to do it almost every single hole. I gave 3 stars because the course was well maintained and the facilities were really nice. Big bar, well stocked proshop, and the turn house was good. Staff seemed very friendly and nice. There was construction going on and the cart paths were brand new which tells me they care for it well. I'd advise the pro to instruct the head greens keeper to move the tee boxes back to the middle of the holes while they are at all the construction. Every one of them is situated to the right of the holes leaving you nothing but trees, bunkers, and water in front of you if you hit the ball STRAIGHT. Not fun.
