Nicest golf course in the area (only place I haven't been to is Warren). Best driving range/ practice facility as well as reasonable twilight tee time prices. Only downside is their website always gives me troubles so i have to book through golf now and pay a 6$ fee. Kind of annoying.

This was one of my best golf experiences in recent memory. Everyone who helped me was upbeat and courteous. Fantastic practice facility. The course is beautiful with an interesting layout that will make you think and weigh risks. It's not punishing, but it has plenty of length even on the middle and forward tees. Reasonable food and beverage prices. The carts are rocket ships, and the keep out areas are reasonably placed. The round costs a premium price, but for an occasional treat or area visit it is worth every penny. Perfect balance of great conditions and amenities without the pretentiousness. Pulled up to Blackthorn Golf Club and this is pure Midwest golf. Wide horizons, a little wind, conditions that actually matter…and a layout where you can swing it but still have to think. It’s not tricked up (don’t temp them) just honest golf. Fairways give you room, greens make you earn it, and if you get lazy for even a second, it’ll check you real quick. Exactly how it should be. This is one of those tracks where you can go low if you’re on…or get exposed if you’re not. No hiding. But the biggest thing for me? The vibe. Staff is unreal. From the shop to outside services everyone’s welcoming, easygoing, and just good people. No weird energy, no attitude. The GM sets that tone too, super approachable, clearly cares, and it shows in how the whole place runs. Feels more like a home course than a stop-in. Pro shop is dialed right now too. They’ve got the 2026 women’s apparel front and center, not tucked away, not an afterthought. Clean, modern stuff that actually fits the game today. You can tell they’re putting real attention into it, which is cool to see. And then you look up and realize…yeah, this place is legit hosting an Epson Tour stop. That tells you everything. The course holds up, the setup is there, and the experience matches it. Simple way to put it is Blackthorn is Midwest golf done right. Solid layout, great people, no fluff. You show up, you play, you leave wanting to come back.

I needed my driver repaired after the shaft snapped at the hosel, so I called to see if they could handle the repair. I spoke with the person responsible for club repairs on Tuesday, explained what I needed, and was told to come in the next day to discuss my options. When I asked what time worked best, I was told anytime before noon, so I said I’d be there at 9:30 a.m. I arrived at 9:30 the next morning, only to be told by the pro shop staff that the club repair technician was out with youth instruction. I left the club anyway and was told I would be contacted later. I also sent a text after I got home to confirm that I had dropped it off. By Sunday, I still hadn’t heard anything, so I sent a follow-up text and received no response. On Monday, I called the course and was again told the repair technician would contact me. Finally, Monday evening, I received a text saying the repair had not even been started. When I asked whether the parts had been ordered, I learned the next morning that they had not. Later that day, I was informed the repair would not be completed before the following weekend. What should have been a straightforward shaft replacement ended up turning into an almost two-week process, largely because nothing was done after I dropped the club off. At that point, I canceled the repair and took my business elsewhere. The only reason I’m not leaving a one-star review is because Ben in the pro shop was friendly and helpful throughout the entire process.

Beautiful golf course. Always in great shape. Greens perfect pudding. Everything was excellent including the personnel running the establishment. Any chance I get? I will always play blackthorne golf club
