We were in town for LIV and had a 10am tee time at Bear Slide. I chose it after reading the reviews. We really enjoyed the course and were glad we played with a local as the 3rd player - he was able to give some good tips on a few of the harder holes and dog legs. True to the description - the front nine is Scottish links style and the back is more traditional winding thru the woods and taking bridges over creeks. The course was very well maintained - nice fairways and smooth greens. They enforce rules here and you can tell because it isn't all beat up to heck. And I am sure they have quality maintenance staff too. The staff we encountered were all friendly and the starter thanked us for choosing to spend our money there. I would play this course again.

Not gonna lie whoever designed this course cooked like crazy. This course feels like a 1900s links course. The back 9 is just insane. Everything is very well kept up. This course is probably the best and hardest course in Hamilton County outside of Purgatory. Must do for sure.

I hate writing reviews like this because Bear Slide Golf Club is genuinely a beautiful course. The layout is great, the scenery is top-tier, and it has all the makings of a premium golf experience. Unfortunately, the way we were treated completely overshadowed everything else. We had a group of four and played 18 holes in 4 hours and 15 minutes—well within a reasonable pace, especially given the chilly conditions and heavy winds. Despite that, we were repeatedly approached and pressured by the ranger—at least five or six times—being told to keep up with a twosome ahead of us. At no point were we holding up the group behind us, and there was no valid reason for the constant interruptions. Instead of enjoying the round we paid over $100 for, we felt rushed and policed the entire time. The most frustrating moment came when the ranger told us “not to argue with him,” despite the fact that we were simply trying to explain that we were keeping pace and not causing any delays. The tone was unnecessary and unprofessional. Golf is supposed to be an enjoyable, relaxing experience. While the course itself delivers on beauty and design, the customer experience fell far short. For the price point, this kind of treatment is unacceptable. Unfortunately, this experience makes it hard to consider coming back.

This is really a 4.5 star review, but there’s no option for 1/2 stars. I played with a foursome on Saturday 5/10. This was my first time back golfing in well over a decade. The course was beautiful and very well maintained with a distinct front and back 9. I have no basis to compare how difficult it was, but we all had a very good time and everyone played well - surprisingly I was able to keep up without major embarrassment. Worth noting for those without their own equipment, the rental set was a Callaway XR iron set with an upgraded Ai Smoke driver, which – as I understand it – is an unusually quality setup for course rentals. After #2, we allowed a fast twosome to play through as we were enjoying our time (the whole round took 4hrs in the nose), yet we were still talked to by the ranger once about keeping up pace - through the entirety of the rest of our round we only saw a couple other players on opposing holes. The clubhouse and other facilities appear dated, and the absence of a beverage cart on a perfect Saturday in May was a notable miss. The ranger interaction felt misplaced given how few other groups were on the course for the remainder of our round. With updated facilities, more attentive pace management, and any relief on the green fee, this becomes a first-pick destination for golfers across the state. As it stands, it’s still very much worth playing.

Love the course but won’t be playing here until I stop reading comments about needless (keeping pace / playing ~4 hr round) and rude behavior from ranger. Real shame as it is a terrific course.
