This course truly exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. Mike went above and beyond to make us feel welcome- helping us get set up with push carts and sharing valuable course insights that made a real difference in our round. His hospitality was outstanding and set the tone for a great day. Despite it being mid-November, the course was in beautiful condition. The fairways were well-maintained, the greens rolled true, and the fall colors added a scenic charm that made the experience even more memorable. Winnetka Golf Club combines excellent service with a picturesque layout, and we couldn’t have asked for a better outing. We’ll definitely be back and we’ll be recommending it to friends looking for a great round in the North Shore area.

A beautiful course and nicely maintained when I played in Fall time. The starter staff Arthur is very kind when I told him I am the first time to play on this course. The pro shop staff is also kind and friendly. I like this course and will play often.

I visited Winnetka Golf Club recently without realizing it was a municipal course — so in fairness, it’s probably not the right fit for me long-term. That said, I wanted to leave a balanced review for others who might be considering it. The course itself is actually quite decent — especially for a public facility. The putting green is solid, and the driving range is respectable, with enough space to get a real practice session in. Not elite-level, but definitely good enough for casual or routine play. What didn’t work for me was the overall atmosphere. Many players were dressed in very casual attire — shorts, stretched-out t-shirts — and for someone who values the traditions and etiquette of golf, that was honestly disappointing. Golf, for me, is not just a sport — it’s about respect for the game and the environment. Playing next to guys who treat it like backyard frisbee really takes away from the experience. But here’s why I gave 4 stars instead of 3: a young woman at the front desk named G.G. (or possibly “Gigi”) was absolutely outstanding. She was polite, efficient, and genuinely helpful. She solved every issue I had, explained everything clearly, and maintained a fantastic attitude despite what I can imagine is a demanding, high-volume job. People like her are rare — she brought a level of professionalism and care that you don’t often see even in private clubs. Major kudos to her. So overall — not a place I’d frequent, but decent enough for a quick round or casual practice. And the customer service from G.G.? Top tier.

Overpriced....played today and we're a 4some and played in 4 hours. (Which was great). What wasn't great is having a ranger tell us to "speed" up because there were 2 open holes in front of us, however remained on time. Just because there are open holes doesn't mean a group is slow. Not impressed, played Sunset in Highland Park much better track and run better.

The course is nice. The greens are in great shape but they will get faster when the cut them but they are still new from the renovation. The course is tight with a lot of water, trees and sand and made for a great challenge. This makes picking the correct tee box important. The starter could not be any nicer and made the start of the round very pleasant. Pace was good we played at 7:20am on a Sunday and finished in under 4 hours. Overall our group really enjoyed the course and will be back.
