What a beautiful golf course!! My friend and I took a weekend getaway to Chicago. We decided we would leave early Saturday and stop to golf on the way down there. I just happened to pick this one (about an hour from where we were staying) and i'm glad I did because it was beautiful! When we got there we ended up being an hour early which was fine because we were both starving from the drive! I got a hot dog which actually was good. It wasn't a cheap one, It was an all beef hot dog. After that we tried out the putting green while we waited for our tee time. It was a HOTT day but we had so much fun ended up getting paired with two guys who were so nice (very good golfers) and told us some places to try in chicago. The greens and fairways were well kept/maintained! I will say the second 9 we golfed we ended up leaving and not finishing because it was so slow, and I mean SLOW! But overall I would definitely recommend this golf course and would love to golf again if I got the chance. I'm knocking one star off because the tee times were very close and it was like I said very slow, lots of waiting.

This public/private golf club offers 18 holes of well-designed golf, along with a practice facility and club house. Plenty of water and sand hazards, along with mature trees, make this a challenging track for most players. Very long hitters (270+ yard drivers) may want a longer distance course, however. It's a well-maintained and walkable course. The greens have fungus issues in places, but the maintenance crew is getting it under control. This track gets a lot of play - it was pretty full on our Monday morning round. So expect to see divots on fairways and unrepaired ball marks on greens. Our pace of play was good, but we got an early start. It's an attractive course. And very flat, except for the greens which offer sloping terrain challenges on virtually every hole. Course design is dynamic, with dog-legs and water making shot and club selection decisions key to scoring well. Staff is friendly and doing their jobs. Starter, ranger, and front desk staff, beverage cart, and restaurant staff all pleasant and working their posts. We had lunch after the round in the clubhouse. The turkey wrap was great. I do recommend OBGC to golfers of all playing skills. Enjoy your round! Update 3/21/26: greens were sanded and having a good start to the early spring season. Much better condition than my original post.

Course is nice but you need to bank on a 5+ hour round. They stack the tee times and it’s always running slow. If they charged more and spaced out the tee times it’d be a much more enjoyable experience for everyone. Would play here way more as it’s 10 minutes from the house but every time I go it’s the same old jammed course with long waits on every tee box.

Decent value and good conditioning for price. The course design itself is just not very good. I’d probably call it the worst collection of par 5’s in the Chicagoland area. Greens at least have some good contouring. But the course is just one contrived shot after another. Wouldn’t return given the options in the area.

Boy, had this place gone downhill. What used to be a place of happy people, players, menber, is now a fair golf course with many disgruntled players and members, not to mention some really unpleasant staff. It seems that many of the long term staff are hand tied to some very petty rules and policies that have truly changed the comfortable and friendly environment. It’s apparent from their fees that they really don’t want nonresident players. The kitchen hours are so customer unfriendly that you can forget about coffee, or breakfast, a donut before your round. The management change back a few years ago may have been necessary, many members didn’t think so. It’s obvious that whomever is leading the charge at the golf course is not a member friendly or golf friendly individual. If the new management felt they needed to become a fair rating golf club with a bunch of long face employees, congratulations you’ve succeeded.
