Description

Calumet Country Club is a historic Chicago-area course featuring mature trees, classic bunkering, and a traditional layout. The routing rewards smart positioning, especially on dogleg holes that tighten near the green. Its greens are firm, fair, and require a thoughtful touch. The course's long history gives it a vintage charm that sets it apart from modern layouts. It's a favorite among traditionalists who appreciate classic golf architecture.

Would give 0/5 if possible. Bunkers are all overgrown with weeds. Tee boxes are either overgrown with weeds or patchy and have no grass in spots. Fairways “look” nice from a distance but have a lot of dry patches and weeds. Greens are about the only thing in “proper” condition and even 4 or 5 of them have dry patches and dimples that affect your putts. Most bunkers are unplayable out of, and I honestly don’t understand why they leave the rakes in them if there is no sand to rake. Good luck If you want to go to the bathroom as half of the toilets are out of order and are in lack luster conditions for sanitation. We tried to get a tee time here 2 months ago but were told that the morning tee times were being pushed out by 2 hours for maintenance and I am honestly curious as to what was being maintained. The only part of the course in good shape were the ponds and they were being maintained by the geese. To call this a “country club” is based solely on history and not on merit. On top of all of this some of the staff was rude and seemed disinterested in doing what was good for business. It is an absolute shame because you can tell it was once a prestigious course in amazing condition and has gone down hill since. There is so much untapped potential if it were being ran by the right people. The only good part of the round was the pace of play because no one seems to want to play this course. I would advise if you are going to play golf in this area to take your precious time and money to Ravisloe or Coyote Run down the road and golf there. To be fair the brats and sausages were quite nice and the lady running the grill may be the only employee who seems to care about the customers as she was quite helpful, nice and caring. That is really the only part of the experience here that deserves recognition.

The course was in tremendous shape, but with all the rain the area has had, that's no surprise. I still want to give the grounds crew their certain due. This place was packed and it really can't be an easy task to maintain all that has to be done on the course. So five 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 for that for sure! My friend and I had some really good shots on some pretty challenging holes and would definitely go back to this place. One more thing is that even though it was very crowded on the day We played, the pace of play was still exceptional. Thanks to the group ahead of Us for that. Lol!

This course has seen better days and it is now old and weathered from years of neglect. The greens are spotty with many bare spots, the fairway bunkers have been overgrown with weeds, and the tea boxes are no different than hitting from the rough. Using your imagination you could definitely see the beauty that this course once held, but sadly poor maintenance and upkeep have withered this course away.

The course did not match the online maps and they had no score card with the updated course. It was a slow 18 holes. The current layout was confusing. Sand traps and tee boxes were in bad shape. Greens were well maintained.

Interesting place to play. It has the roots of a beautiful country club course but maintenance has gone downhill. The empty sand traps are bearable, but if they can just fix the bumpy greens this place would be a gem.
