36.00 for 9 holes of golf on a ridiculously poorly kept 9 holes. The greens were the worst I've played on all year. You can pay the same for a real rockford golf course that has way better upkeep

I never thought I would have to make this review. I've been a consistent golfer at Newburg Village Golf Club for as long as I can remember. It was where I started golfing and it is what I once considered to be my "home course." Truth is, and I knew this, the course sucked. The greens are terribly slow and littered with weeds, plants, geese poop, and ball divots. The fairways and tee boxes are not any better. Bunkers are terrible as well, even though they were redone, I would argue they are worse now than before. The carts are louder than my mom's lawnmower and do not run very well. The fact of the matter is, the poor quality course really didn't matter to me because they charged such low prices. It was perfect. A trashy course charging what it deserved. Recently, they have changed their prices. They no longer charge low prices but instead, charge significantly MORE than surrounding significantly nicer courses, such as Aldeen, Sinnissippi, etc. To get into specifics, the most recent time I went, they charged me around 30 bucks for nine holes. My friend told me the last, and what he mentioned would be his final time he visited, they charged him 41 dollars for 9 holes. To compare, you can play Aldeen 18 holes WITH A CART for 36 dollars, depending on the time of day. You'll play 18 at Ingersoll with a cart for around 36-40, you'll play Sinnissippi 9 holes with a nice cart for 24. It is sad what I have seen happen to Newburg, charging top dollar for the worst quality course in Northern Illinois. I am positive they also make lots of money from their new casino machines they placed inside so I am not sure why they have become so greedy on green fees. My hope is they will revert to previous prices, or close the course for a summer and put some serious, much needed work into it. Its only saving quality is the nice staff, who I know are not in charge of price changes or anything like that.

love this course since i started playing golf. perfect environment except for all the entitled elders who think they’re on the PGA tour willing to hit up on some children trying to learn the game due to their own lack of patience. you pay 30 to play a good 9 holes, great course for teaching someone new how to play, but even at 930 in the morning someone wants to get mad and risk injuring an AGAIN NEW player. 🤦🏽 have some respect or find a different course, it’s j rockford.

Friendly staff and usually a good chance to get on the course without a reservation.
