Great course. In fact, it was an absolutely beautiful course. Nice layout and some very unique holes. I gave it a 4/5 though due to the owner kicking us off the course IMMEDIATELY at 8:00PM, when I only had a hole and a half to play, and I was the last guy out. So that kinda sucked. But other than that, it was an awesome course!

The cost was reasonable. This isn't a fancy course, with all the frills, but it is fun and challenging. The back 9 needs better t-boxes.....some of these were very poor mats. I really enjoyed hole 18 the most. I had fun.....but the course could use some money stuck into improvements on the back 9 holes.

This course could be nice with some TLC. A few artificial tee boxes, a lot of fairways with dirt and no grass in large patches, a few dirt cart paths. One of our carts didn’t have functioning brakes. The clubhouse was very dirty. The women’s restroom had dead bugs and overflowing trash. With a deep clean in the clubhouse and on the carts, and some small investments on the tee boxes and fairways, this could be a very nice place. I’m guessing at one point it was nice which makes the current state all the more sad. The 18th hole is super cool with the green being on an island. I am praying this place gets bought by some new ownership who values keeping the clubhouse and carts clean and the course well maintained. As it stands today, I would advise going to Meadowview in Mattoon if you’re looking for a decent public course near Charleston.

Nice course have plaid it once this year and intend to go again. Have plaid it several times in the past years.

Worst golf experience I’ve had in central illinois. Couldn’t play meadow view in Mattoon, so settled for this place. Cheap round for dirty carts, and the course resembles everything you see and feel before you start to play. Most of the fairways were dirt, most tee boxes are dirt or a mat that’s been there for years, and the overall course layout doesn’t make for an enjoyable round. I can understand some things as it’s been a dry summer but some things are clearly lack of attention. Hardly any flat lies due to years of no maintenance. Craters/divots everywhere with exposed dirt. The overall shape of the course is the worse I’ve ever seen, so much in fact I simply didn’t wish to play the back nine. After asking for a partial refund or even a rain check for a day with better conditions for 9, I was sworn at, yelled to leave, and said if I didn’t like it to play somewhere else. Will NEVER come here nor recommend for anyone. Play one of the other multiple public courses in Mattoon Tuscola or Champaign, they are all worth the drive and extra $ to avoid the headache and staff experience you’ll get here.
