If you are visiting around Waikiki, Honolulu for a few days, especially with family, Ala Wai Golf Course is a great option if you just can’t resist the urge! I could only play the front nine as I teed off around 3pm. Green fees of $56 with cart plus $65 golf club rental was worthwhile. The course is easy, so a good way to keep your vacation spirit high! Course condition: seems the course is under renovation. I didn’t see blue tee boxes, so had to tee from the whites. Fairways are ok but there is no rough as such. Some of the greens were under some kind of repair, it seems. The bunkers didn’t look great (been on the beach all day, so avoided it on the golf course). Pro shop/admin office: The lady at the pro shop/office was very nice. Since it was my first time, she was very helpful and got a tee time for me as well pretty quickly. Folks at the driving range/club rental were great as well. The rentals came with complimentary half dozen balls and lots of tees. I usually lose a couple or more balls per round but today, I played with just one ball and one tee! The rental folks even asked me to keep the balls. Although I didn’t use the driving range facility, it seems good and definitely busy. The food truck/shack right there is very handy. All in all, great experience for me. One downside that frustrated me (not sure others faced the same issue) was that the website link on the Google map takes you to some casino/online gambling site. I couldn’t make tee time reservation online or for that matter find more information (rates, etc) online except some reviews and photos. Hope this gets fixed asap.

In Hawaii visiting and wanted to get a quick nine in. There’s no pro shop nor is there a driving range. They do have a putting green, with barely any grass or putting surface. If you are a resident of Hawaii, the green fees are very inexpensive. However, if you are visiting the island and not a local resident, the green fees are Astronomically high in do not reflect the condition of the golf course. To walk nine holes on a Thursday as a guest to the island was $40 only played the front nine. Fairways were a mix of green grass but mostly burned areas with dirt and absolutely zero grass. The tea boxes were not much better with most being uneven very little grass mostly dirt the tea box on number eight apart three was the best condition. All of the greens had some degree of grass, but most of them either had a fungus or algae wrong on them or had no grass or bare spots on them. I was reading some reviews that said the greens were in excellent condition. Those people are a bunch of liars. I would not I repeat not recommend this golf course for anyone visiting the island. They’re a better options elsewhere to find.

Great course for a municipal course. Open which helps if you are not the straightest hitter. Good place to start if you are playing multiple days

This review is for the new driving range and putting green which just opened on 11/15/25. They're open 6:30-23:00. Lots of bats available. I went at night time around 19:00. The ambiance is nice. They started playing some music on the speakers. Ball prices are a bit more expensive than other driving ranges further from town but this is right in town so its very convenient if you live in town or visiting ala Moana or Waikiki. Small basket (35 balls): $10 Large basket (70 balls): $15 The putting green is currently not in great shape since half of the grass is only half grown in. Almost like putting through a bunker of sand and grass. Maybe this will change as the grass grows out.

I was on vacation the week of May 18th in Honolulu and my son and I wanted to play a round of golf. This course is located very close to the hotel, so we booked a time. The fairways have a lot of bare spots and the greens on the back nine were better than the front nine. We were teamed with a couple of local guys, and they were great to play with. If you have time to take a 30-minute drive, I suggest you try Kapolei (recommendation from a local) and pay the little extra for a better course. The course has potential, but they will need to put some time and $$ to make it better. I will say the cost of food and drink was very reasonable for a golf course. My son had a beef bowl, and I had the wings and I felt they did a good job. We also rented clubs from Hawaii Golf Club Rentals a place located in the Marriott Waikiki. All premium brands and renting two sets cost us $102. I would highly recommend using them for your club rentals.
