You play the same nine holes twice to complete a full 18, but the layout never feels repetitive. The course is always in great condition, and the greens roll fast and true challenging yet fair. It is incredible how tucked away this course is, almost like a hidden gem in the area. I have played here several times and have had nothing but great experiences. The staff are consistently friendly and helpful, and the grounds crew are considerate of players while still keeping the course maintained beautifully. Overall, La Vida is a high-quality course that delivers outstanding value and an enjoyable experience every time. Highly recommended for golfers of all levels.

9 hole course with two tee boxes for each hole making it 18 holes. Greens and fairways are well maintained. Outside play on Mondays, Tuesdays and 1/2 day Wednesday. Well worth the green fees.

Whites Only on This Fairway I recently visited LaVida Country Club in Savannah, and while the grounds themselves are well-maintained, the overall experience was marred by an unmistakable air of social discomfort that many black visitors to country clubs are all too familiar with. It’s no secret that golf clubs across the U.S. have long histories tied to exclusion, particularly racial exclusion. Many of these institutions still carry that unspoken legacy—what Tiger Woods once described in an interview as the “you shouldn’t be here” vibe. He said it best: “You can generally sense it.” Unfortunately, that same sense was palpable during my visit to LaVida. When I arrived, I was greeted (if you can call it that) by a woman whose demeanor made it feel like she hadn’t spoken to a Black man in days—or perhaps ever. Her clipped tone, avoidance of eye contact, and overall body language echoed what so many of us have felt in spaces not built for us: tolerated, not welcomed. Moments like these make it clear that surface-level hospitality can’t hide the deeper issue—one that Tiger Woods and countless others have called out for decades. It’s not always overt racism. Sometimes, it’s the silence, the side-eyes, the subtle coldness that says more than words ever could. For Black golfers or visitors hoping for a peaceful experience in Savannah, I’d caution you to be aware of the atmosphere here. Until spaces like LaVida can commit to real inclusivity—not just in policy but in attitude—they will continue to alienate those who simply want to enjoy the game like anyone else.

Reasonably priced for a public course and the condition of course! Two different sets of tee boxes turns this 9 hole course into 18. Not much trouble off the tee and would be a great course to learn on. Worth a play if your in the area. Greens were sanded when we played but looked to be in good condition.
