Description

Set atop Lookout Mountain, The Keep offers dramatic long-range vistas and cliff-edge moments paired with wide fairways and big, flowing greens. Strategy is rewarded more than raw power-approach angles into expansive putting surfaces change daily with wind and firmness. Five holes ride the ridge line, and the walk captures the mountain's topography without feeling punishing. It complements the renowned Highlands course and anchors the resort's stay-and-play experience. Architectural detailing is refined, with contour that encourages the ground game when conditions are firm.

Got to play here on my birthday and was such an awesome experience. Everything from the moment we arrived was great. The bag check guys were super nice, clubhouse attendant was super informing and answered any questions we had. We played the highlands course and was so much fun and a great layout. The course was in great shape with unreal views. Had lunch after our round and was so good. The short par 3 course is some of the most fun I’ve had with my friends since we played till the sun went down. Yes it is a little pricey but definitely worth every cent. Can’t wait to be back and play the keep

This review is of the golf courses only. Highlands course 4 out of 5 - Played here this week and have to say it is the one of the most picturesque golf course I have ever played. Even these pictures do not do it justice. From a pure golf course standpoint the course is good not great. I found some of the holes to be quite quirky where you will want to rethink your gameplay after seeing the actually hole. Ideally this is a shot placement course not allowing for grip it and rip it. The greens are bent grass and held shots well. They were not overly fast but generally the rule is everything will break towards the valley. Maybe a 10 or 11 on the stint. The fairways were above average, not great with plenty of areas that were resodded or needing to be redone. The Keep 5 out of 5 - also played here this week. This is only 18 mths old and you can tell by the resodded fairways that it isn't there yet. I expect in 3 to 5 years this place will almost be able to name their price as the views here are even better than the Highlands. Our group of 16 couldn't believe a golf course could have these kind of views. The greens here are bent grass but way faster and more undulating than at the Highlands. I suspect these were closer to a 13 or 14 on the stint. Fairways need time to settle in with 5 or 6 of them having been resodded over the last 1 to 2 months. This should be a bucket listed golf destination for east coast golfers! I cannot wait to bring my 3 handicapper son to play here. The Keep in particular blew away my expectations despite the fairways resodding. My only knock at the Keep were the caddies. Both in our group could not read a green nor provided much guidance on tee shots for what to avoid. If a course requires caddies then my expectations would be that these are seasoned and more helpful.

I was able to play McLemore over the fall break, and it was a great experience. This was my second time playing the course, and it still exceeded my expectations like the first time. Some of the truest greens you will ever putt on, very well-manicured tee-green, and several signature holes. 18 receives all the attention, but holes 2 & 3, 6 & 7, and 16/17 are some of my personal favorites. They all have their own distinct beauty that adds to the course. If you are ever in the area, make sure to play the Highland Course at McLemore!

We stayed in a house on the property for a leadership retreat. We had an incredible experience. We were able to eat at the restaurants each night which was very convenient. The staff was amazing and the amenities are next level. We will definitely be back!

I got to the course about an hour and half prior to my tee time. Got checked in and decided to check out the grounds. They had a 6 hole par 3 course called the Cairn. No hole played longer than 85 yards and they said it was on a first come basis. My tee time was at 3:10 so the short course was empty so I played it while the wife walked with me and emjoyed the view. After the short course, I putted for a bit on the huge and very nice practice green. Then went to the range to warm up. They have a members range and a guest range. Balls were Callaway practice balls and the guests used mats to prevent damage to the range. Went back to the putting green and waited for our tee time. The scorecard I was given only had tees 2 thru 6, and I was recommended to play tees 3. Course was in pretty good shape. There were 2 places I took relief from due to bare spots or rocks in the fairway, but they were not massive spots. I moved the ball maybe 2 feet to find lush fairway and continued. The greens rolled pretty true. There were a couple holes I would have liked to have some local knowledge. Hole 6, hot it about 50 yards shorter than what you think you should. The tee box says 289 to the hazard, a massive drop off, but really u need to hit a 220 to 230 club to stay short of it. Then on 18, stay as right as possible because everything will funnel back to the left. I hit mine to what I thought was too far right and it ended up on the left side just outside of the fairway. 18 was definitely some great views! We barely got to the tee time for some daylight and ended up finishing the round with almost no light. Great experience though and I would recommend others to give it a try if your in the area! The pics below were of the 18th hole...
