Great course. If you are like me and like fast play, you will appreciate 1-star reviews that were left. They should read like 5-star reviews. Didn't have any dealings with the course marshaling because we play at an appropriate speed.

Our vacation was amazing! The home is perfectly located on the lake with its own dock. The home was fully equipped with anything you need to enjoy your time. Every room is spacious and well decorated. Near by trails was great for site seeing with a picturesque scenery. Come prepared to create great memories from sitting around the fire Pitt to cooking pizza in the outdoor pizza oven!

It pains me to write this review, as I have been coming to this property for 8+ years. however this last trip was the final straw for me. The course itself at The Oconee deserves 5 stars. Beautiful layout, challenging holes, and stunning scenery. It's truly a golfer's paradise. However, the entire experience was brought down significantly by the unprofessional staff out on the course. There was a clear difference in how members and outside players (like our group) were treated. The rangers were curt and borderline rude throughout the round, offering unsolicited critiques and making us feel unwelcome. It felt like they were doing us a favor by letting us play the course we paid a premium for. For such a high-end establishment, the lack of basic hospitality was shocking. You'd expect the staff to be courteous and enhance the experience, especially considering the greens fees. Instead, they created an atmosphere of tension that detracted from the course's beauty. If you're a member at Reynolds Plantation, you might have a fantastic time at The Oconee. But for outside players, especially those staying at the Ritz, the hefty price tag doesn't seem to come with the service you deserve these days. I would recommend looking elsewhere unless a truly exceptional course is the only priority.

If you are looking for an enjoyable golf experience, don’t play here. The course is beautiful but the starter, the course marshal and his team of pit bulls are truly unbearable and inconsiderate. They will harass you the entire round about pace of play regardless of whether people are even being held up. No ability to apply common sense and show any level of understanding and consideration. Despite the fact you are paying good money to play golf and stay at the Ritz, they act like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to play on the course. Sorry, but this isn’t Augusta National. Relax a bit.

Beautiful course! Greens were very fast. Be prepared to 3 putt a lot if you aren’t used to fast greens. $340/round is absurd though.
