Very good experience overall - excellent people/service and the beautiful golf course is in decent shape for sure. We played in a Thursday afternoon and it definitely has all the “things” you’d expect at a higher end golf course. I was greeted at the bag drop, the folks in the pro shop were super nice, starter was funny, our cart girl was excellent and youngsters greeted us at the end of the round to make sure we were good and attend to our clubs as needed. The only thing absent was a ranger. The course itself is beautifully laid out and very tough. It winds through the subdivision so lots of pretty scenery and cool houses to look at during your round. I noted some issues on the tee boxes, greens and bunkers but nothing I wouldn’t expect at the end of the playing season. Overall the greens were superb - rolled true and in excellent shape. I took lots of pictures so you could see for yourself. My only two negatives were pitch marks on the greens not being fixed and the group behind us hit into us 3 times. I would have liked to have had a ranger address the group behind us, but after I yelled at them they stopped.

I have played golf and visited my friends/clients here many times, but my recent experience has completely changed my view. After receiving what I believe to be a false ticket from the front gate staff, I decided to challenge it. That ticket was absolutely unjustified, and I intend to fight this. I went to the HOA office in good faith. Upon arrival, the staff member kept me waiting outside the office for over ten minutes while she chatted on the phone about matters completely unrelated to HOA business. When I finally got assistance, they did explain the appeals process—but here’s the catch: I was told I had to appeal directly to the same person who issued the false ticket. Unsurprisingly, my appeal was denied. When I asked again, they suggested I speak at a board meeting, assuring me it would only take about five minutes. I attended, but the meeting was delayed, and a line of people including people from a charity group for children, with similar complaints was already waiting. After wasting over an hour, I was denied again—no surprise, since the same gate staff member was present and clearly aligned with the board. Many of my friends who live in St. Marlo’s have told me that no one they know has ever successfully won an appeal. That says everything. I am now working with my attorney to continue fighting—not just over a fine I shouldn’t have to pay, but over the HOA’s apparent ego and abuse of power. If you check St. Marlo’s Facebook page, you’ll see more residents voicing similar frustrations. This is truly ridiculous. As a licensed real estate agent who has bought and sold homes in this community, I feel obligated to share my personal experience. I will no longer recommend St. Marlo’s to any current or future clients. My friends are suffering under this HOA, and some have already moved out because of the overreach and poor management—despite paying significant fees. Consider this a fair warning. Updated in April of 2026. It appears someone from St. Marlo’s HOA/Front gate may have found my previous review and tracked it back to me. During my most recent visit, I was pulled over at the back gate and directed to the front gate. Upon arrival, staff asked if I was the real estate agent. I confirmed, and they asked me to pull over and wait. The same supervisor who originally issued the false ticket came out. True to form, he had nothing better to do than dig through old records. He asked for my bank payment statements and reviewed a transaction from last year on my phone. After that unnecessary scrutiny, he finally let me in. No new violation. No resolution. Just another display of ego and pettiness. At this point, it's almost amusing. I’ll just play a few less golf balls that day—no big loss. But the message is clear: instead of addressing legitimate concerns, this HOA chooses intimidation and harassment. Rest assured, my attorney and I are still moving forward. This isn't about the fine anymore. It's about accountability.

I recently played St. Marlo Country Club and was deeply disappointed!!! This course was once a spectacular venue for amateurs seeking a refined golfing experience, but it now represents the epitome of "riches to rags." Unfortunately, I paid over $100 for a track with conditions that are far inferior to most municipal courses. The first red flag was the lack of players on a historically high-demand day. After reaching the first few greens and witnessing a course in despair, confirmed that the lack of a crowd of golfers and club members was not because it was my lucky day but due to a significant decline in course quality. The attached photos visually reflects the appearance of the majority of the putting greens (some were playable shape). Given the recent modest temperatures and heavy rain in the metropolitan Atlanta area, these conditions point directly to poor course management or a complete lack thereof. Even if an environmental issue like a vegetative infection is to blame, charging premium rates for a municipal-level experience is an insult to most golfers. I would say the clubhouse culinary experience was fair and the on-course restrooms were well appointed, but I would venture to say that is not a top priority for what most golfers are seeking when searching for an enjoyable golf outing. Until such time that St. Marlo is able to rectify state of its course, the value (quality/cost) is simply not there!

My girlfriend and I took to these hallowed tee boxes yesterday, fully prepared for a polite duel with par, only to find ourselves utterly seduced by the topography. The routing is a gentleman's waltz across rolling hills, adorned with babbling streams that giggle with an almost scandalous effervescence, demanding both strategic reverence and a moment of quiet, pastoral reflection. The landscaping is nothing short of a botanical cathedral. To strike a well-lofted wedge here is to perform a kinetic soliloquy amidst a living watercolor painting. And the greens! They rolled with the unyielding truth of a Faulkner protagonist—immaculate, fearsomely swift, and demanding of one’s absolute finest putting etiquette. One feels compelled to repair a pitch mark not out of mere obligation, but out of a deep, moral reverence for the agronomy. Framing this emerald paradise are homes and estates of such staggering, palatial majesty that one instinctively wants to straighten one’s collar, politely tip a Panama hat, and address the golf ball with a dignified drawl. A triumphant marriage of formidable golf and aristocratic charm. Bring your impeccable manners, keep your divots shallow, and prepare to be thoroughly spellbound!

Beautiful layout. First green looked like a lunar landing. GPS on cart constantly reminding you to fix your ball marks on the green. Maybe they should give out FREE ball mark repair tools in the pro shop and teach people how to use them. Have been playing this game for 40+ years and have never seen more un repaired ball marks in all my years and rounds combined. Probably fixed nearly 100 ball marks. Next time maybe I can fix more. Oh that’s right there won’t be a next time. Expensive. Only happy we didn’t have to pay by the ball mark.
