Hilaman Golf Course in Tallahassee is the City's premier municipal 18-hole public facility, a par-72 championship layout (up to 6,324 yards from the black tees, slope 121) that winds through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the capital city, acquired by the City in 1981 and reopened in 1982 after initial development. The course features wide-open fairways from four tee boxes (black, blue, green, orange), challenging each golfer with unique approaches per hole amid mature trees, strategic bunkering, and natural hazards that reward precision and variety. Known for its accessibility to all levels, solid conditioning on Bermuda surfaces, and a welcoming pro shop with flexible hours (7 a.m. to sunset play), it serves as a community staple with amenities like a driving range and snack bar. Despite occasional pace issues noted in reviews, it remains a favorite for locals and visitors seeking honest, enjoyable municipal golf. Hilaman delivers timeless, scenic public play in North Florida's heart.

Great price, friendly staff. Played for the first time after a big storm and the course held up pretty well! If you can find a tee time very much worth it.

Booked a tee time for 2 on accident and meant to book it for 3, called the next day and the lady was very nice and got it figured out and said all 3 of us could play, called again the next day just with a random question about something else and the lady said my tee time hadn’t changed and they could not fit in all 3 of us. Also she was very very rude and said it was my fault.

The greens were in pretty good condition. Try to keep the ball below the pin. The fairways had some bare spots.

Great course to play, for the price. Lots of water around, If you slice you are in the water or the bushes. Funny place to play with the different elevations.

Course is in great shape, if you can find time to reserve a tee time a week in advance. City of Tallahassee customer service however, is not great. Don’t expect any type of intentionality with any requests. Expect voicemails and “call back tomorrow” with no follow up. Good luck trying to cancel your membership…..
