Description

Palm-Aire Country Club's Oaks Course in Pompano Beach is a demanding Tom Fazio-designed championship 18-hole par-71 semi-private layout (up to 6,910 yards, slope ~130, rating 73.8) featuring four sets of tees, wide fairways that transition into tight approaches, strategic bunkering, and elevated, undulating greens that test every aspect of the game in a lush South Florida setting. This classic track (one of three at the club) balances challenge with playability, with water and doglegs adding interest without excessive punishment. Recently renovated with TifEagle greens, it offers top-notch conditioning and a welcoming clubhouse. The Oaks stands out for its elegant design and historical prestige. Oaks Course provides high-quality, strategic golf in Pompano Beach.

One of the most challenging courses for distance and “corners” with water and woods to add to your training experience. 😁 Not a billionaire type course but definitely one you will have a blast on.

I really want it like this course. It’s close, convenient, and the conditions are for the most part pretty good. My problem with this course is the lack of standards for golf etiquette. I am by no means a golf pro, but there have been many times I am playing as a single or double, and a 4some would not let me play through. People park ON the greens. I was playing by myself, waiting on a 4some in front of me, when a 4some behind me starting hitting into me. I was clearly in view, and they just started hitting. I spoke with the starter, and while he’s a nice guy and acknowledges that it’s messed up, he says he “doesn’t get paid enough to enforce etiquette and rules.” I get it, but when players are destroying your greens by driving on them, and endangering other players by hitting into them, they should be kicked off the course. It’s disappointing. It seems like they value the business more than they do upholding the tradition and etiquette that makes golf a great sport to play. Overall, a great, convenient course to play that usually pretty consistent in terms of conditions. Just don’t expect any standards or golf etiquette to be upheld (I’ve played a 6 hour round before, as a 2some, because bigger groups won’t let smaller groups play through, and the bigger groups will take multiple drops and mulligans)

As a local, in the profession, and long-time patron, I’ve played here consistently for years—often multiple times per week, including through the slower summer months. The convenience and accessibility have always made it an easy place to get out and play. Over time, however, the pace of play and overall tee sheet management have noticeably declined. It often feels like the course is stretched beyond a comfortable capacity, which takes away from what used to be a much more enjoyable and predictable experience. That said, I want to personally recognize and thank Tom, Jeff, and Andrew on the outside staff, along with Juan behind the bar. They are the primary reason I’ve continued to come back over the years. Their professionalism, work ethic, and consistent positive attitude do not go unnoticed. They represent the course extremely well and create a welcoming environment that keeps locals like myself returning despite other pitfalls by management. As someone who works in the golf industry, I understand how challenging public course operations can be. I hope the facility continues to support and retain staff like them, as they are a tremendous asset and make a meaningful difference in the overall experience. However, with the recent state of events and management, I can no longer continue to support Palm Aire CC.

Played Cypress in the morning at 7am and followed that with a game at Oaks by 10:30. Was really pleased with this course. Big grounds, nice around the community, really like the “secluded” feel. The pro shop is awesome and the setup is great for getting out there. Staff was really nice to deal with.

George Fazio layout is excellent. Some cool holes , dog legs, great par 3’s, one really long par 5. Conditions were pretty good for a public course, staff were friendly. Only thing I didn’t like is the price 58$ for a twilight round. No 9 hole rate. It would have been better for 30 or 40$ but conditions are much better than other courses. Overall not bad.
