When I arrived at about 4:15 to check into the hotel I was told they had to check and see if my room was ready. After a few minute wait I was told my room wasn't ready but would be shortly. I asked what that meant and was told it would be 30 minutes. I expressed my frustration about my room not being ready until almost 5:00 pm but was merely told they were short staffed. While I was waiting for my room another couple came in that had apparently tried to check in earlier and were told their room was still not available. They requested a refund and left to go find lodging somewhere else. Just mentioning this fact so it is clear this was not a one off situation for only me. I figured I would make the best of it and have a drink while having to wait on my room. But then I was told that the bar and restaurant wasn't open and it was clear that it hadn't been in some time. When I mentioned that it did not show that on the website I was told they didn't have the ability to change that on the website and had asked that it be done some time ago to no avail. After waiting almost 45 minutes sitting in the sparse lobby I finally got a room in the only building that is actually open (again no indication that the entire property is under renovation). The room was okay, but you can definitely see that there are some renovations needed which are taking place on the property (main entrance door hardware doesn't lock and falling apart, etc). I took a walk around the property following checking into my room and saw that the entire back of the main building is boarded up and you have to walk through basically a construction zone to get to the pool area. When I checked out I mentioned all of the shortcomings and was basically told, sorry, but we don't have access to the website to provide updates about the actual conditions on the property (which is that it is a construction zone, with no restaurant or bar and essentially acts more like a Super 8 motel than a "resort".).

This review is for the manatee dive only! We had a “chilly” day but were reassured that we’d be fine in our wetsuits during the dive. Kendra did a great job explaining everything! The manatees were a bit elusive but she got us close up to a few and the experience for this 63 year old was amazing!!!

We selected this property, over a nice VRBO, because of the various restaurants and amenities advertised on their website. When we arrived, we were told all restaurants were closed, the spa was closed, the tiki bar was closed, and the grounds were undergoing renovations with all but one wing of rooms closed…due to the Hurricane in the fall of ‘24. The room we had was clean and spacious, but had damaged windows with interpane condensation that really impacted our ability to enjoy our “river view.” The grounds were mostly kept, but certainly not like any of the pictures. All of the staff was friendly. When I complained about the misrepresentations made on the website, they said they got that complaint a lot but didn’t have access to change the language or otherwise reflect the lack of amenities, which seems bizarre.

Booked a stay during Christmas as a gift to my children. My son was excited to see the manatees while my daughter was excited to play the golf course. We booked here after seeing they had a golf course, full restaurant, and with continental breakfast included. After arrival, we waited well past our check in time to get a room. I watched people get the same 2 bed rooms for hours while telling me there was none ready. Eventually I brought this to the manager’s attention. She claimed it was an error/glitch in the system and finally got me into a room. Turns out it’s under construction with only one building available, no restaurant, no golf, and the “continental breakfast” consisted of bagels, cereal, yogurt, and coffee. My receipt showed $347, but I was charged $424!!! I requested a partial refund through Expedia. They contacted the hotel multiple times and were refused any kind of compensation. They said the golf and restaurant weren’t “included” in the fee, and continental breakfast was served 6-9 every day. Nothing about being under construction, golf closing, or restaurant closing was disclosed before booking. I was told it was under new ownership and management by some locals. 0/10 do not recommend. Place had tons of character and would definitely be back if we had a good experience! All they needed to do was be transparent from the start.

I stayed here in 2022 and it was my first time visiting Crystal River . I had a great stay. I enjoy the tiki bar , fishing and other food services. I’m back in 2025 And I was going through the reviews and they are so awful. There is no bedbugs Or bad service. They just shut down three of their buildings to completely renovate. It’s a great place. We’re family and friends. Don’t knock it till you try it!
