Arrived at 5pm to a line of people checking in only to be told our room wasn’t ready… at 5pm. Rather than getting dressed up for our anniversary dinner, we went in our travel clothes since we had no other option. The rooms are newly renovated, however, the bathrooms give 1980 motel vibes. Got in the shower to find someone else’s hair all over the shower walls. The pillows are paper thin as are the rooms. We could hear every footstep above us. Not to mention, our view was horrible since it was on the first floor. Overall, not what you would expect for $650/night and would not return. The only thing to mention is the front desk staff, Edwich, was great to deal with.

Shout out to Raheem for his amazing Bingo commentary. He made it so fun!!! Jennifer, Diane, and Curly were awesome bartenders at the pool! They kept me loose, relaxed, and sane. : ) Kate and Ernie were awesome trolley drivers. Learned so much about the island from them.

Had a great trip to Captiva, staying at the South Seas Resort. The pool areas were nice, especially the Captiva Landing area. There were two areas on the beach where free chairs and umbrellas were provided. The beach was gorgeous and not crowded. We loved all the food we had on and off the resort. The prices are inflated for food, but representative of a vacation town, so it was to be expected. It was great having a starbucks on site for morning coffee walks! There is a lot of walking here because the resort spans well over a mile long. There are golf carts and bikes available to rent, a free trolley too, but we had our own car and enjoyed walking around. It's pretty quiet and relaxed. The island is a mix of guests and owners, so it's important to mind your manners as this is also people's homes sprinkled in and around island. There is some construction going on here and there where they are building new features or updating, or finishing up repairs from the last major hurricane. None of it was bothersome at all and noise was minimal during our stay. There are some surrounding shops and restaurants on and off the island, and like I said, all our meals were really good portions and tasted great! The front desk staff was very friendly and there is a texting line for questions which they responded to promptly. We stayed in the bayside condo. They were older buildings, but a nice job was done to update most of the facades, landscaping, and interiors. We had everything we needed for the 5 day stay and didn't need to call for anything additional. Housekeeping is by request here. Our condo was a one bedroom, second floor and was very clean. The common areas and walkways were also impeccably clean, there is a ton of staff throughout maintinating everything. I have no complaints about our stay. If I had to have something that could use improvement, it would be the tap water in our condo, which had a treated taste to it, no smell, just didn't want drink it, so we did end up buying a case of bottled water at an island grocery store. I think that the south seas provisions should lower the cost of water to accommodate those who don't wish to leave the resort for better drinking water. We didn't experience weird the taste anywhere else. Also our tvs were dated, so we couldn't log into streaming services at night, just watching digital cable. All in all I am very happy with our experience and would recommend South Seas Resort!

We booked our reservation thru AirBnB 11/2025. At check-in for our 5 night/6 day stay in Feb 2026, I was told that a $250/day deposit ($1500) that would be put on a card to be put file as well as an additional $40/person per night “resort fee” $80/night for us. I requested to speak to a manager considering the addl. fees were not listed on the AirBnB listing when booking. While speaking to the manager I was able to get him to admit that the fees did not take effect until Jan 2026. and was courteous and lowered the fee after I repeatedly explained that the new rate should not apply to my reservation as it was made BEFORE the fee increase. Then comes the final penny pinching at checkout. An additional 11.5% Occupancy State Tax. I understand the island is still in the rebuilding stages after hurricane Ian and gossip around town is that South Seas is at less than 50% occupancy, but nickel and diming guests with hidden fees and taxes at check-in/out to make up for lost revenue is tacky and is a definite turn off. The unplanned additional ~$500 spent on our accommodations definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. The condo was mediocre. The mattress was also awful - was very old and visibly sagged in the middle resulting in my husband and I calling dibs for the sofa every other night. Beautiful sunsets over the Gulf in our screened in porch or from the beach steps away from the building. We loved all the beaches “On Island” and the sea shelling was spectacular. Mediocre, out dated condo and the hidden fees and additional taxes makes South Seas “pretty” but not worth it.

This review is to specifically call out the trolley drivers who take you from place to place around the resort. Larry went above and beyond to extend his schedule to make sure my daughter and I could get to the other end of the island safely. We really appreciate these drivers, their positive attitude, and they’re willingness to go above and beyond. Thank you!
