Brownson Country Club in Shelton offers a private-club setting with an 18-hole course that’s known for rolling terrain and a “shotmaking first” feel. Water comes into play on a meaningful number of holes, which adds both strategy and penalty if you get careless. The course isn’t about sheer length—it’s more about navigating angles, avoiding trouble, and scoring well by being sharp from tee to green. Brownson also tends to have an active calendar (leagues and events) that keeps the club feeling lively throughout the season. In practice, it’s a strong fit for golfers who like a traditional private-club round with enough hazards and green complexes to keep every hole interesting.

Interesting layout. Front 9 wider than back 9. Back 9 is in another section, short drive through the streets. Lots of rain created soggy conditions. Tough greens, lots of incline and tough pin placement. Not bad overall.

Was invited for a tournament by a friend and had a great time. All of the members were super nice, the course and facilities are in good shape and the layout makes the golf accessible to all handicaps.

Very friendly club atmosphere and overall vibe. Golf course is always in great condition. The course is short but very challenging. The Club continues to make yearly upgrades to course and facilities.
