My stay cation week of golf and diners in the four corners of Connecticut brought me to Putnam and Connecticut National. The course is in immaculate condition. It's like playing on a plush carpet. It had rained about 3 inches in the past few days, so there was some wet spots, but that is to be expected. Also, the rough is thick and leafy, so I lost a few balls I would likely have found any other time of the year. But, again, these are to be expected in mid-October. The course is laid out nicely and offers a challenge while not killing you in the process. The scenery was fantastic. You just can't beat autumn in New England! The staff was super friendly and helpful. Greenskeeping crew were very polite and respectful of the golfers. Price to walk mid-week was reasonable.

It really doesn’t get much better than this place. I had this course on my bucket list for quite a long time, and finally got to play it yesterday. The front 9 and back 9 are very different from each other, but in an extremely, cool way. This place offers plenty of hole variety. The greens roll quick, and the pin placements were tough, but who doesn’t love a good challenge! I highly recommend this course. It’s well worth the trip.

course was in excellent shape for 3rd week of april. holes are picturesque, if a little straightforward. that said, any directness from tee in will be met with complicated, undulating green complexes. pace was good, 4h10m on a busy thursday. isolated location. no clubhouse right now, so don’t plan to hang out. (a new one under construction.) the worst part of this place is the parking lot, which is saying a lot about how good the golf course is. enjoy!

Place is in great shape, but every time I’ve been here I’ve been rushed cause of a gap between holes. As we tee’d off ready to go to take our second shot, the Ranger came and complained that the guys ahead of us were already tee’d off on the next hole. Then on the following hole, he shows up staring us down while we putt to hurry up still, while the group ahead of us were on the next hole in the middle of the fairway. No one behind us was waiting to tee off, we hit the back 9 and were on hole 11 before the group behind us just pulled up to the 10th hole to tee off. For the rest of the playing time the Ranger did circles around us till we left. In a rush for nothing, like I didn’t just spend 96$ to play. This happened last year too. I understand to keep up the pace but with no one waiting behind us is a little stupid. Played 18 in 4 hours and 12 minutes based on my tracker app I use too. I would like the play 18 there without a wack job kid following me around to hurry up.

Played mid March on a Wed afternoon. Temp was cool, not cold. Course was in amazing shape for opening day. Ground was damp but not soaked which was unusual for as much rain they had the week before. Greens rolled extremely good, smooth not bumpy. Enjoyed the layout even though I played it a little longer than I do normally. Loved the par 3's and 18 is a legitimately tough par 5 and great finishing hole. Will definately go back and play this course again.
