New Haven Country Club in Hamden is a historic private club with a traditional, polished feel and a course that reflects classic Connecticut parkland design. The layout is built around strategic shot placement—hitting the right areas of the fairway and approaching greens from the proper angles is typically the best way to score. It’s a club where golf culture matters: member events, competitive play, and a strong sense of tradition tend to be part of the identity. The course often feels more demanding the closer you try to play to trouble, which makes it a great test for disciplined golfers and a fun puzzle for repeat rounds. Overall, it’s a long-established private club experience with a golf-first reputation and a course designed for thoughtful shot-making.

Absolutely beautiful from the air. The golf course is perfectly kept, green and lovely. Even on a rainy day in autumn it is a sight! It sits on the shore of Lake Whitney making it even more spectacular to capture!

Wow this club is amazing! If you have the means and want to join, or just have a catered event you really can't do any better in CT. It's a destination of historic amazingness.

Watch GPS! I put in the address and it took me to the back caretaker's entrance by the barn. If you don't see the pillars that say "New Haven Country Club" you are in the wrong spot. Went for a business presentation. Decent food, clean and well kept. Would go again!

New Haven country club hosted my daughter’s quinceanera, and it was a fabulous experience. Karissa went out of her way to be accommodating and helpful, and was warm and professional. The servers were quick and attentive, and enthusiastically danced to the music while serving! Thank you all so much.
