The Red Course at Fairchild Wheeler provides a complementary 18-hole muni experience in Fairfield that’s generally considered more approachable than the Black while still being engaging. It’s designed to be playable for a wide range of golfers, with enough space and variety to keep rounds moving and enjoyable. You’ll still find holes that punish careless misses, but overall it’s typically the friendlier of the two routings for casual play. Like most strong municipal facilities, the Red Course is heavily used for leagues and outings, which speaks to its reliability and accessibility. If you want a solid public 18 with a classic muni feel and less bite than the Black, the Red is usually the better match.

Great local golf course with competitive prices. It took me and my friends about an hour and a half to complete all nine holes. It wasn’t very busy which was nice, we went on a Monday morning while it was raining. It was still a fun experience. I recommend checking it out

Not half as impressed with the Black course as I was with Chris Bargas GC in nearby Shelton that I played the other day. Fairways and greens were both in meh condition. The back 9 is slightly more redeeming in terms of layout but overall underwhelmed with the course.

Do not play here. I have only played the front 9 of the Black course two times. First time was over a year ago. At that time the course conditions were okay at best. Played here today 4/18/26 and the conditions were atrocious, pace was atrocious, the starter was nice but didn't know what was going on because the girl in the "pro" shop did not seem to know either so communication between them was non existent and they sent out THREE separate groups on to the first tee at the same time causing a three hour 9 holes. Fairways were unkept, greens were covered in debris and extremely inconsistent, tee boxes are beat up, and the rough across much of this 9 was thin to bare. Trust me, don't play here. If you told me that I could only play this course the rest of my life I would actually quit golf.

The worse course i have every played in my life. Also if you leave anything they say they have it and then once you show up its gone. This course is complete and utter dogwater. Dont play this course if you want to enjoy your time golfing. The teeboxes are a warzone. Make sure to bring a helmet because holy balls are flying at you left and right.
