They have lost the course. I completely understand that drought conditions and water restrictions are out of the course’s control, and I have sympathy for the staff dealing with that. However, this course wasn’t just dry, it is completely gone. If the drought has made it impossible to maintain the course, that’s understandable, and I feel for the staff. I truly hope the course recovers because it has so much potential, but in its current state, it is not worth spending your money to play.

The drought has hit the course hard! And yet, it plays great. Every hole has a beautiful view. Greens are solid despite the drought. I can’t wait to play this course again when the fairways are revived.

Beautiful views and a challenging course, some nice elevated tee-boxes are inviting to drive deep, but the long grass will devour anything off-line. Greens were rolling nice but had to navigate deer droppings. Came through on a random off-season day and had the course to myself. Staff was friendly and helpful, really enjoyable round.

Just a fyi - we had made reservations several weeks ago. Arrive today and found the course completely dried out. They are able to water the greens, however, due to water restrictions. They are unable to water the fairways. so, the reason for the review is simply that you need to call and check on conditions before you make a drive to play the course. I hope they’re able to start watering soon. We heard great things about the course over the last few years. We were excited to play, however, unfortunately things didn’t work out today.

This course is superb, a really special place. Played October 2025, conditions were top notch. This Weiskopf/Morrish track has been rehabbed by new owners after sitting closed for a decade. Course was empty, I guess the word hasn't got out how good this place is. It's in great shape, Tons of fun. Rippling fairways, interesting bunkers, fun strategic opportunities. Front nine hops over the stream several times, back nine climbs a hill then descends. Favorite holes were 8, a par five that doglegs sharp left over the stream. 12 an uphill par four that peaks and descends at the end to the green. 14 par five from elevated tee, super cool green complex. 16 jumps a small pond to neat green. Killer views of surrounding mountains on every hole. Worth traveling here, cool little town of La Veta. Will come again
