In a beautiful location with some great views, Applewood is a uniquely worthy wedding venue. We were impressed with the large indoor event space, adjacent patio and delicious food! And the photography options were... just look at the photos!

?? this doesn’t look like a real course. One of the photos is our “fairway.” boyfriend and his friends were very disappointed. Ground is hard, super hard for T’s! Ground workers/construction workers in vests and hats everywhere. Plus big Cat machines & equipment. Random holes dug up (probably from construction) and the path/pavement for golf carts are all broken up, and more holes/divots. Seem’s run down, which is odd cause there’s so many workers. Maybe cause it’s April? Maybe in the spring/summer it will look nicer. One ground worker was circling my boyfriend and his friends, around the green maybe “cutting grass?” Like he couldn’t wait 3 minutes for everyone to finish. Other construction workers just walked around in directions of where we they were hitting. I don’t blame the people who were hired to work, but if you’re doing this much work on your course maybe close for a bit? That way you don’t have new peoples experiences affected by something to this regard. If this course improves and comes back to life maybe we’ll return but for this experience and our first time here, not great:/

Golfer beware! I’ve Applewood more times than I can count over the years, but I’ve never seen a course in such bad shape. I want to be fair in that Denver had a rough, non-existent winter, for the course to recover. Applewood needs to CLOSE for an extended period of time and do some MAJOR work. It’s sad the condition of the course. Where is the grounds crew? It’s as if the course has given-up. Dirt fairways, weeds in the bunkers….They told us a few holes were under repair, but it looked like the entire course is based on conditions. I may never go back which is unfortunate! It’s a good layout and usually reasonable priced. It’s not worth $20 what I experienced today. Applewood needs a major overhaul!

Look, I love cheap golf but there has to be some minimum standards for an operational golf course. One of which is “all holes are playable”, #5 was closed as it looked like the greens keepers kids tried re-enacting the movie Holes. The “fairways” were literally 80% dead grass, dirt, gravel, and open holes. The rare green grass was crisped out as if it had never been watered before. 2 stars for the cheap $30 rate but for the love of god the greens keeper (more like dirt keeper) should be fired immediately.

The Little Course That Could...be awesome. Fairways need TLC, though staff is out there working on it. Drive off big hills on #1 and #10. Sweet uphill Dogleg on #8. Decent value on price, Applewood could be awesome.
