Terrific golf course. Coming from Florida, I had an awesome time playing Black Horse. The course itself was in great shape from tee to green, well worth the price and the staff were great. Again, coming from Florida, the views were FANTASTIC.

I played the Bayonet Course as a guest of the West Valley Duffers. The wind will make this course play longer than the tee markers say. The wind also helps a great deal when at your back. The weather was typical coastal overcast, but with breaks in the clouds to let the sunshine in. The course was in great shape the fairways were well tended. The rough was shoe deep giving both deep set and easy played lays. The fairway bunkers were firm making escape on the easier side. The greenside bunkers were soft making escape a challenge. The greens were firm, so keeping the ball on the surface on approach was a challenge. The green speed was quick, but consistent. We did see the "cart girl" 3 times during our round to make sure we were well taken care of. The food post round was just as good as the course. The portion sizes were worth the price. Definitely will play here again, but it'll have to be the Blackhorse course before I play Bayonet again.

Expansive view of Monterey Bay and open view of many other holes. The course layout at Black Horse is quite spread out, but the holes are very interesting with quite a bit of elevation changes. The practice area is quite nice too. Course conditions are top notch except for patrons not fixing ball marks. The cart people give out free cold water bottles too. It’s a hidden gem for a muni - heard it has been renovated as I had played Bayonet several decades ago and didn’t remember much good things back then other than being cheap.

The Bayview Grille at Black Horse Golf Courses was a perfect venue for vibrant lunches with the panoramic views of golf course and the ocean. Alfresco area was recommended as you could enjoy soft ocean breezes. There were not many service staff when we were there. Waiting could be expected. Carne Asada Nachos and Poke Wanton Tacos was highly recommended.

Beautiful location and view and delicious hors d'oeuvres. Customer service was great and they did not charge our small group for the use of a private back room in honor of my father who passed away and was a vet. However, the room had very little ventilation and was very stuffy, but other than that, everything was great. I would say, 4 and a 1/2 out of 5 stars..
