Didn't play the course, hit some balls at the driving range $18 for a large bucket. The range is pretty cool hitting from atop of a hill across the valley. The putting green is also a nice place to practice overlooking the course. For a first timer the place is pretty nice and I will return to play the course.

Was having a perfect day with the lads until the Marshal Jason killed the vibe. Told us our 4-hour pace was too slow when the group in front were playing just at 3.5hours. Last time I checked, im not Tiger Woods but I don’t think 4 hours is an unreasonable pace. Told him we we’re trying our best and he replied “We don’t try out here, we do”. He even mentioned that they keep a log of slow players. Okay. Cool. Crazy response when the group behind us were 2.5 holes behind. Maybe you should’ve talked to them first? Everybody knows golf is a mental game so him talking to us on the 16th kind of threw us off. Homie tried to act all buddy buddy with us after the round, probably cause he realized we weren’t the ones holding up the line. Literally just purchased my resident card and if I had known i’d be treated like a foreigner, I probably would’ve held off on buying it. Other than that, the course is great. Recommend playing here if you can play at a 3 hour pace 🤣

Balboa is such a fun and tight course! Great views of downtown San Diego and the planes flying in on a few holes. Super tight course, so keep it straight. Fast greens too!

This was my first time playing this course and it was a great experience. The course was in great condition. The fairways were good, greens were very fast and small, adding to the challenge of this course. The sand was decent. The course was very challenging with a great layout providing lots of elevation change and unique holes. Views of the pacific ocean, San Diego downtown skyline, and Coronado Bridge made for a scenic round of golf. Must play municipal course right in the middle of downtown San Diego.

A great city run course. Tee times are hard to come by but well worth it if you get them. The course is very challenging. Tight fairways, small greens, and thick rough. Not for the feint of heart. But if you are cool with tossing the scorecard and just having fun a great round of golf is waiting for you. Staff can be a bit prickly and the course can be a bit beat up but it’s kind of understandable given how many people they pump through this course each day. Bucket list kinds of course if you can get on.
