What a charming place, I was in Redding for the weekend and found this place in a search. It easy to see why it's a fan favorite. Lots of fun holes, variety, great greens, it's a real package. Plus it's best feature is the price. Rental clubs, 9 holes, and a beer at the end was 30 bucks. Perfect Sunday. My only gripes were the signage on each hole were in bad shape but that's a nitpick. Just make sure to bring your rangefinder. When you are in the area, give this place a visit.

I have struggled with how to write this review of Grape Ranch Golf Club in Palo Cedro, California. Not because it is a poor course. Quite the opposite. Grape Ranch is a course of contradictions. Built from what was once a cow pasture, nestled beside Highway 44, with a small subdivision woven into the property, it is an unusual blend of ranchland, residential life, and golf. It is not a secluded escape into nature; it is a place where the ordinary and the manicured exist side by side. And somehow, that works. The challenge in reviewing Grape Ranch is the layout. There is nothing inherently wrong with it. The holes are fair, playable, and enjoyable. But the design rarely creates a sense of discovery. There are few moments that linger after the round, few holes that make you stop and appreciate the architecture or strategy behind them. The word that keeps coming to mind is simple: unremarkable. And yet, the greens tell an entirely different story. They are exceptional. Smooth, consistent, and maintained to a standard that feels almost unexpected given the surroundings, the greens are the defining feature of Grape Ranch. They reward good shots, expose poor ones, and provide a level of quality that elevates the entire experience. That is the contradiction: a straightforward layout with truly outstanding putting surfaces. Grape Ranch may not offer the drama of a mountain course or the personality of a historic design, but it has a quiet charm. There is something uniquely Northern California about a golf course carved from pastureland, sharing space with homes and a highway, yet still delivering greens that rival much more prestigious venues. In the end, perhaps that is the beauty of Grape Ranch. It is not a course that announces itself. It does not rise from the landscape like some grand monument to the game. It sits quietly, almost anonymously, between the hum of Highway 44 and the open fields that came before it. A place where cattle once wandered and golfers now search for perfection. Where houses watch from the edges of fairways. Where the noise of the modern world fades just enough for a perfectly struck shot to matter. Grape Ranch is not a masterpiece carved into the earth. It is something more unusual. It is a small, unexpected victory of care and patience, a reminder that greatness can sometimes appear in the most unlikely places. Even in a cow pasture.

This is a great 9 hole course. It has some challenging holes and can be golfed in a couple of hours. People are great that work there.

Nice 9 hole course that is in great shape and greens are very well managed. Easily the best conditioned 9 hole course in the area. Friendly staff and pace of play is always good with friendly course players. Some challenging holes and alternating tees if you want to play 18. Highly recommend this course
