Winchester CC is a slice of golf heaven in the foothills just north of Auburn, CA. The golf course is designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. & II. It's a very tough layout and moves naturally along the terrain. It's spectacular and narrow. The clubhouse sits perched above the course and has a good grill. The golf shop staff was really nice, so I dropped some cash in there for a few shirts and some other souvenirs. I loved the entire atmosphere and can't wait to return.

I’ve played Winchester Country Club two or three times a year since it opened, and today’s round was the most disappointing experience I’ve ever had there. Our foursome teed off at 8:30 a.m. and finished in about 4½ hours, which was reasonable, but that’s about the only positive I can offer. The golf course is in the worst condition I’ve ever seen. There are muddy areas throughout the course, and it honestly looks like maintenance has been neglected. This course has been outstanding in the past. I’ve seen it in championship condition and have always considered it one of the better layouts in the region. Today it was a completely different story. At $150, the greens fee is a complete rip off. If I could give it less than one star, I would. In its current condition, I wouldn’t come back, and I can’t recommend that anyone else spend their money here either. The service matched the condition of the course. When we checked in, the golf professional was sitting in the office with his feet on the desk and didn’t acknowledge us. Later, we stopped by the bar, and there wasn’t even anyone there to buy a drink. The layout is still excellent, and you can tell why this course was once considered a premier country club. But right now, it’s a shell of what it used to be. Unless major improvements are made, I’d avoid Winchester. It’s hard to believe this is the same course that was once known for championship-caliber conditions. Today, it felt more like a goat track than a private club.

Beautiful course, staff was friendly, and bar area was very nice. It's a tough course, but very beautiful lay out. What made it even tougher was no golf carts on several holes. Number 18 was even more tougher because it is up hill all the way to the green.

Great course, but a bit oversaturated in parts despite all the heat. Still a stunning course that meanders along forested foothills, great layout with views and challenges. Overall conditions are good though. A special message to the membership though: please repair your ball marks on the greens! I’ve never seen a private course with so many beat up greens… that’s not randoms that’s members who play regularly and don’t care to fix their marks.

Oh my goodness, let me tell you about our incredible experience at the country club! We recently had a meeting there and it was absolutely fantastic. The moment we stepped in, we were blown away by the stunning views. I mean, seriously, they were out of this world! And guess what? Winchester County Club offers memberships to anyone who's interested. How cool is that? If you're even remotely curious, I highly recommend inquiring about it. Trust me, you won't regret it! Oh, and did I mention that they also offer daily tours? It's the perfect opportunity to explore this amazing place and soak in all the beauty it has to offer. Plus, they even have a wedding venue! Can you imagine tying the knot in such a breathtaking setting? It's like a dream come true! And let's not forget about the homes around the area. They are absolutely jaw-dropping! Talk about living in luxury, right? So, if you're ever in the neighborhood, make sure to take a moment to admire these stunning homes. All in all, our experience at Winchester County Club was nothing short of extraordinary. The views, the membership options, the tours, the venue, and the surrounding homes all contribute to making it an absolute gem. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this incredible place!
