Beware. Poor communication and management; and of much greater concern MISOGYNY is practiced readily here. For context, I am a Female golfer with an above average handicap. Issue #1 - I was hitting my irons off the grass (which is why I come here) and was approached and told it was a “no irons” day. This is, of course, is 100% acceptable and I appreciate them taking care of the practice area. Totally get it. However, this was not communicated anywhere, and I make a 30 minute drive to come hit here even though we live on the back nine of Monarch Beach and have endless options within 5 minutes from us. Would be appropriate to list this on website, as well as when checking in to get balls. Had I known before paying, would have headed to Arroyo. Issue #2 - When I asked if Woods were okay off the grass (which is well AHEAD of other golfers) his response to me was “yes, off a tee, just don’t shank it into anyone…….”. Just completely unacceptable and would NEVER be said to a man. He tried to back track but I’ve been around too long to know what he actually meant. Issue #3 - As I was walking away back to mat, both men proceeded to start laughing and (I have good ears), complaining about me. In the following 20 minutes I was watched while I practiced, and felt extremely uncomfortable. One of my practice goals for the day was to work on a difficult drill with my driver, which was causing a lot of mis hits. Ultimately, I left early feeling alienated and angry. It’s time that women start speaking up more like this. We make up 60% of new golfers. I’ve been playing 30 years and am so happy to see this positive trend. Golf is no longer a man’s sport and it’s time that women get equal respect and support. It’s just a matter of time before courses start to loose significant business over behavior like this.

Terrible experience at this elitist and exclusive “public” course. I was warming up for a few minutes at the chipping area before I was going to hit the range. I never hit the range because of the staff that works at this elitist course. I was told I needed to “rent a tube” in order to chip balls at the chipping area…. Like I knew what that meant. I said “no I’m ok I don’t need a tube to pick up balls…” I was then told I needed to rent a tube in order to hit balls at the chipping area, my own balls by the way. I’ve never even heard of something like this but this course is clearly hurting for money if they are hassling people at the practice area for a few extra bucks… bad form all around. Don’t even get me started on $160 greens fees… Arrowood for less is all I’m saying. The staff there is actually happy to see you

Beautiful golf course. Fairways and greens in great shape. Golf carts are equipped with top of the line GPS and a ball washer. How cool is that? They give you two bottles of water with ice. Cart girl came around twice. Course is challenging but definitely playable. With a bit of luck, you will lose no balls. Will definitely come back on my next visit to Irvine.

I haven’t played the course yet, but the practice facilities are very well maintained. Pristine course-like upkeep. The grounds crew do a great job. The range has a lot of spaces, you’re hitting off of grass. It’s also a popular place so try to get there at a good time so you can find a spot on the range. Even if you don’t find a spot on the range, they’re putting green on the right side is very well manicured. As well as the chipping area. It’s a nice challenging design. With lots different, slope angles and breaks. There’s even a bunker in the middle of the green you can hit out of. You can pay for the ball retriever at the little window or you can bring your own balls and practice. One of the best places to spend time practicing at.

There's really not much to fault about this course except the price and how there is no food service except for the cart at the 8th green. I dunno, did they lose their liquor license or something? But the greens are tough but well managed. The fairways are equally nice Bermuda without a single blade of St Augustine anywhere to be found. The holes are generally challenging with multiple dog legs and rolling fairways.
