Description

Rolling Hills in Tempe has been reborn under the Grass Clippings brand, adding lights for night golf and music for a fun atmosphere. Originally a 1960s executive course, the redesign transformed it into a modern par 62 with strong short game emphasis. The layout mixes short par 4s and par 3s across 18 holes, stretching about 3,700 yards. The vibe is casual, with night leagues and events creating a unique community feel. A driving range with lights and entertainment features anchors the experience.

First time finally getting over to play Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills Golf Course. What an experience!!! This place was throttled, from parking lot, to proshop, to practice facility, to course. They have got it going on here. Outside service guys very friendly and knowledgeable as it was our first time there. We got paired with another twosome that dropped out at the turn, so for 2 holes we were absolutely confused where to play from since we had been hitting from the back box and were told they could be played as par 4 holes. It wasn't until hole 12 when we caught up with the group in front of us and noticed them playing forward, or actually as dictated par 3's, where the lights were on the tee boxes, haha lol 🤣. Course was in very good shape, rough, dormant Bermuda, cut all to consist length and definitive edges on natural landscape, which added to the overall look of all the course. Fairways, shims, and greens in very good condition for as much play as this course recieves. Some technical par 3's with extreme false fronts, backs and sides, must hit decent to good shots to be putting. They are doing there best to maintain teeboxes for as much play as they recieve, they had netting over repair sections of teeboxes so that nobody could take advantage before moving tee markers. Bunkers in decent to okay shape, sand in most, not dirt. Practice putting green had major undulations which did not exactly convert to all greens out on the course, but fun none the less. All in all great atmosphere for late night lite golf all the way to wee hours of the night. If you have the itch passed dark, this is the place to play real holes on a golf course, not a simulator, and not just a late night driving range. The only reason I hadn't play here before was when seeing other posts about course, I was worried the teeboxes were going to be artificial grass mats. I will definitely be back again to play the "Clippings" @RollingHills!!!

Fun place. Recently renovated public course which has become an outdoor entertainment, bar, grill, and special event tournament venue with casual contemporary Arizona/Southwestern theme for food and drinks. Great at night with friends!

I had the opportunity to play some night golf with a few buddies and was very excited. Unfortunately, my excitement didn’t last long as the course was in very rough shape. Specifically the tee boxes. The tee boxes were torn to absolute shreds. For spending around $150 per person, you can find so many better options in the area. Avoid this place at all costs, it is not worth your time or money. I am extremely dissatisfied. The only positive was the front desk staff was nice when we checked in.

Great place to golf if you love courses that are absolute trash! I am almost certain they haven't even THOUGHT about tee box maintenance in over 4 years let alone actually doing it. If you want a fun thing to do in the area I would recommend playing leapfrog in the highway over playing this course. If I could give this place zero stars I would.

I recently attended the Grass Clippings Golf Tournament at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Tempe as a spectator, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget. A big thank you to **Gila River Casino** for generously providing the VIP suite tickets—they truly made the day unforgettable! Rolling Hills is a fantastic course, offering both beauty and challenge at every hole. Even as a spectator, I was captivated by the stunning views and the exciting competition unfolding across the fairways. The course was in impeccable condition, and it was a pleasure to watch the players navigate such a well-maintained layout. The event itself was seamless and incredibly enjoyable. The staff and volunteers were helpful and friendly, making the entire experience run smoothly from start to finish. As a VIP suite holder, I had the chance to watch the action up close from a comfortable, elevated perspective. The suite was stocked drinks, and it was a perfect place to relax and take in all the excitement. The social aspect of the tournament was another highlight. The energy was lively and fun, with everyone in great spirits, whether they were cheering for the players or enjoying the great company. It was easy to see that the event was designed to create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved, and the VIP experience definitely enhanced that. Once again, a huge thanks to **Gila River Casino** for making this such a memorable day. If you get the chance to attend next year, I highly recommend it—whether you’re playing or spectating, you’ll be in for an amazing time!
