Positives: beautiful property with stunning views; spacious, clean rooms; quiet, peaceful area. Negatives: Compared to other 4- or even 3-star hotels, they skimp on housekeeping and in-room supplies (coffee pods, toiletries). You can ask for these things, and they will give a tiny bit, so you'll need to make multiple requests. The service was inconsistent. The bellman was a bit rude/snarky upon arrival the first day. On the second day, we ordered room service dessert and were told it would take about 20 minutes. An hour later, we called to check and found out they had forgotten our order. On the third morning at the breakfast buffet, the server brought water for everyone, told us to get our food, and said she'd be back to take drink orders. Twenty minutes later, she asked if we planned to eat. I said yes, but I wanted some coffee before eating (due to limited coffee in the room, since they are stingy with the supplies). She eventually brought the coffee, but no cream. All the other tables had their own carafe for refills, and we didn't get one. I was able to ask someone else for cream. The food was fine. We never got refills of the coffee or water. There were other smaller annoyances, such as a noisy mini-fridge, very tight parking areas, and the headboards being improperly affixed to the walls, causing them to bang against the wall with any minor position changes throughout the night. Overall, the experience of staying here felt amateur and unpolished. A solid comparison is Tamaya resort near Albuquerque. That is a 4-star golf resort with a spa and higher end dining that meets (and exceeds) expectations. Tamaya has consistently excellent service, daily housekeeping, and spa-like toiletries. They also replenish room supplies during the daily housekeeping service. This seems like a bare minimum expectation for a 4 star resort. We aren't difficult customers, but Gold Canyon truly fell short. We will be back to the area, but won't stay at Gold Canyon again.

This hotel was perfect for me as a solo traveler in a new place. So clean and very well taken care of, I would stay again in a heartbeat if I was coming to town. The carne asada breakfast taco I had for breakfast was delicious! Thanks Andrew for taking great care of me:)

We got married at Gold Canyon Golf Resort & Spa in March 2026, and the entire weekend exceeded every expectation. The property itself is absolutely stunning—every backdrop felt like it was made for a wedding. Our guests loved the accommodations; the rooms were spacious, comfortable, and made the whole stay feel relaxed and enjoyable. What truly set this venue apart, though, was the team. Charlene and her staff handled every detail with precision and care, making the entire process feel seamless and stress-free from start to finish. We also happened to have our wedding during a historic heat wave, and the team was incredibly flexible and proactive in adjusting plans to keep everyone comfortable. Despite the circumstances, they ensured the weekend remained just as beautiful and enjoyable as we had envisioned. If you're looking for a venue that combines natural beauty with exceptional coordination and hospitality, this is it. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Lovely area, featuring two public 18-hole championship courses: Dinosaur Mountain and Sidewinder. As stated by Golf Digest, both are highly-rated. You will also find a small golfing apparel/supply/gift store, hotel, restaurant & homes to book through Airbnb. Sunrise & sunset views are beautiful from the golf course, looking out over the valley. Definitely worth a visit.

Halfway through a golf trip here with some friends and I will say, I really hope the experience tomorrow on the Dinosaur Mountain course is better than Sidewinder was today. It's 100 degrees today so if you come, don't expect any water on the course to refill a water bottle so you can keep hydrated. Do not expect any ball cleaners on the tee box of any hole on this course. It's not that they didn't fill them...it's that they don't exist. You will be on your own for that until the cart service meets up with you only once a side to make you pay for, at the very least, water. You'll also have to plan on keeping your water cool with a single, small cooler for two people in a cart. Of course, it's a typical golf cart cooler but this is AZ...if you don't have water on the course, maybe two would be a good idea? That's been standard at similar courses I've played at similar price points. All of this wouldn't be that big of a deal at all had the resort simply offered free water on the course - we bought other things from the cart service as you do but to not supply water is somewhat mind-blowing. Apparently, it's not a priority for this resort. You will also not be allowed to take the cart to your villa on the grounds after your round to unload your golf bag. You'll have to carry your clubs or wait on a ride back from the staff. To be fair, I understand that to a degree but we're paying to stay here and you have my credit card on file...you don't trust your customers to bring the cart back so they don't have to lug their bags up multiple hills when it's so hot? All in all, the staff is nice and professional but had I known the amenities were so lacking here, I would have booked another resort/golf venue in Phoenix/Scottsdale, no question. I have to say, I'm regretting the amount we paid to fly in, for golf and lodging. Especially after the months of planning.
