Couldn’t have been more of a let down. Course it in terrible shape. Could be free and I wouldn’t do to this dump. All other reviews are outdated. Grounds crew has the biggest egos for people who play in the dirt all day lol. Could see this place on a top 10 worst courses.

Did not stay at the hotel....This review is about the golf course. The pro shop actually is in a bar. It is kind of confusing to have to pay for your round of golf at the bar, literally the bar. The patio area outside was a nice touch. The golf carts did not have any GPS system on them, and it seem you could just drive anywhere you wanted to, probably right across the greens. However it would not have mattered, because the greens were completely dead. Unless rainwater comes down, there is no water applied to the greens at all. When I say that the greens were completely dead. They were crunchy dead. There was no putting line, you just hit the ball and hope for the best. Golf etiquette does not apply at this golf course. There was two of us, and a foursome in front of us starting on the back nine, they were on the tee box on 10 at the black markers, and we were on the tee box on 10 at the white markers. They did not even acknowledge us to let us go ahead of them, obviously a twosome will play faster than a foursome. So we follow them for the complete back nine. The moneymaker it seems here at the Dothan national Golf club and hotel, is the bar in the hotel. The golf course is just something there to kill time with I guess, because no money obviously does not go into the course. To play 18 holes on a Friday was a little under $39. That was $20 too much for the shape that the course was in. If you are looking to play golf in Dothan, I would advise to spend the extra money and go to a better course.

Let's start with staff. I've been treated rudely before, but these guys. I asked about ice and she said "it's down there" waving her hand as if, don't bother me. We ordered food and it was mediocre. Since a cup of coke was $3 we asked for a refill which was met with a disgusted look. They offered no info about hours for pools or tee times. Every question we asked was met with short answers and looks as if we were a bother. I can't remember anyone of them telling us thank you. The rooms were old fairly clean, I've seen worse. But nothing to brag about. The course I'll give them a pass on because of the weather. I'm going to go back to play the course but they can keep the room and their rude bar and front desk staff.

Golf course needs to have separate reviews from the hotel. Played this course, and it has to be the worst conditions I've ever played. Several greens were just sand as they had little to no grass. I spoke to an employee at another course in the area, "If you can't grow grass down here, you're doing something very wrong." Look up the history of this course. Beautiful design, but the newest owners let it run into nothing.

Rooms antiquated. Service was good at hotel. But in morning I went to play golf. There was no one around. I saw a cart next to golf course. Since it was my first time here I thought it must be free if you stay at hotel. There was a scramble going on and one of the players handed me the phone and said someone wanted to talk to me. That person said come up to clubhouse. I did. He accused me of trying to "not pay." Without that cart ready to go by the hotel I would've looked around for how "to pay." When I told him that, his dark demeanor remained. Not a good exchange. If you're really listening to what someone tells you, circumstances like these could be avoided. Eventually I had fun playing golf which my wife of 57 years tells me when I head to the golf course. See? I listen to her.
