Description

One of Alabama's oldest munis, Roebuck carries the golden age fingerprints of British architect Herbert Barker. It's an old school walker's course with straightforward visuals, small targets and plenty of character. The fun lies in controlling trajectory into compact greens rather than overpowering holes with length. There's no driving range on site a reminder to arrive with your swing but the putting surfaces reward a deft touch. For history minded players, it's a charming time capsule of early 20th century municipal golf.

I was a member for 2025 and played the course at least 30 times. My last time playing there was and will be 12/26/2025. There was a shootout immediately beside hole 16 at 4:30pm. A golfer was hit by a stray bullet in the thigh and he reported that a body from the shootout was left lying in a ditch across the street from the course. I was on hole 9 when it happened and could see the muzzle flashes from all of the guns. I have heard nearby gunshots at least 15 times while playing Roebuck, so gunfire wasn't surprising. This time being so close was different. The course conditions are actually improving, but they don't outweigh the safety concerns for me.

Roebuck is perfect for a golfer looking to improve or just enjoy some time out playing the game. It costs $14 to walk 9 here. Some people like to leave one star reviews for a few bad greens, and while 4 of the 18 greens aren’t in the best shape, they are actively being worked on. For me, the nice and friendly staff, food, and a golf course I can come out and play whenever I want is worth more than perfection.

As a new “serious” golfer I have visited several golf courses domestically and fortunately internationally. Having said that, Roebuck Golf Course feels like home to me. As a proud Roebuck Golf Course member, I highly recommend this golf course! Beginners are treated with the same respect as avid golfers and everyone makes you feel special no matter your skill level. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people on the course and words can’t express how amazing the staff are. Everyone at Roebuck Golf Course consistently provides superior service at an affordable price! I appreciate and applaud both! Tournaments and events are great offerings as well! The staff willingly collaborates with you to plan activities that effectively support all of your golfing needs. I have also enjoyed recent renovations, flexibility, and always being greeted with a smile and positive attitude! I encourage others to visit and support Roebuck Golf Course! Everyone works hard to ensure you have a wonderful experience and you will not be disappointed!

Played golf with a friend here and was charged 2 cart fees when we needed 1 cart.the course could use some work, the greens have weeds and there was a tree that fell down blocking the cart path on hole 17.the course is relatively well taken care of there was some grounds crew making adjustments to the tee box where their were divots.on the plus there are a high amount of ball wash station with towels, and water stations. you do get a gps and yardage on your cart, although they have a restricted area zone that locks the cart when you get to close to a tee box or green or the edge of the course by a fence which can get annoying when your tying to get your ball if you hit it bad.its not the worse course i played on but they’re better options for a little cheaper or more expensive.

Great value for the money. While its not a world class golf course by any means, you really can't find better value around the Birmingham metro area. They don't have a driving range and the greens are very small, but other than that its a great course for the money.
