Description

Prairie Glen is the more open sibling to Glacier at Devil's Head, offering a links-inspired feel and wider landing areas. But don't let the prairie name fool you bunkers and swirling winds can make things tricky. A balanced test that complements its partner course well.

I'd prefer to give Prairie Glen a 3.5 star rating, so I've rounded up. This track was deemed a little easier than the Glacier course at Devil's Head by our group. It's a very interesting track, with plenty of terrain and other hazards to keep us challenged during the round. Maintenance is a factor, with sand traps and greens in generally good condition, and cart paths in need of attention. That said, they are working to make the course conditions better. If you get a deal to play here, it's worth it. But for golfers who need the highest quality conditions of play, I'd go elsewhere. Try the bratwurst at the clubhouse, it's delicious.

The layout is great. A lot of fun and unique holes, but the conditions are not good even for the end of April. A lot of wet areas and every cart path is dangerous. Money is needed.

The Prairie Glen course is a good layout, however the condition and maintenance of the course are a lot to be desired for the standard $72 total for 18 holes and a cart. The fairways blend into the rough, half the bunkers are playable, the tee boxes are poor and forget keeping your drink in its container on the cart paths. The greens were in great condition however and the overall layout of the course was a fun experience. I’d be happier to play it in the condition it was in if it was in top-top shape. I’d consider it a strong option if it were a $40 course. Also of note, $40 for a 6-pack at the club house?!? Highway robbery
