Description

The Golf Course at Branch River is a scenic, tree-lined layout near Manitowoc with a country-club feel. Long par 4s, rolling fairways, and well-placed bunkers test your full game. It's a peaceful, old-school design with modern conditioning. A must-play if you're in the area.

Ok, I'm frustrated at this point. I've been coming here since it was a club and still came once open to the public. That said, I've gone to the range a few times and played once this year. Even got a good deal on a 10 round with a cart package for a great price. I'm trying to let this go because of the new ownership this year but it's hard. Here we go The range is awful and has no yardage stakes to hit at. The tee box for the range is dirt mostly. Dandelion's everywhere. Got balls 2nd time there this year and it was worse so I didn't even hit all the balls. Pointless to hit my sticks at nothing to have my yardage. Played my first round this week and I've never seen such a shitty course in my life. This was the best course in Manitowoc county for a long time. The grounds crew don't know what there doing. Trees were cut down that made holes challenging like the big one in the middle of the fairway on hole 1. There's again dandelion's in the fairway and rough. Finding balls was ridiculous. The grass was cut and the clippings were all over the fairway and rough. The biggest let down were the greens and green side bunkers. WOW!!! There's patchy grass, no grass, holes, plugs, and many dimples on the greens that made them unplayable/unreadable. My opinion is the new owners should never of had this course open until perfect playing conditions are done. I completely feel taken advantage of when I bought the golf package I did with out being told how shitty this course looked. Don't run this place into the ground please. I love it here. I won't be back again until late July early August. Hopefully they find a grounds crew who knows how to water greens and make proper repairs to this course fast. If it's not better by then August then this golf course is going to close fast. Should have waited till next year to open this course. Please get it together. **UPDATE ** 7/26/2025. I added another star from the above review. **REASON WHY** Im at this golf course daily. Im sure most employees know who this review is from. The people working here are fantastic. Service is great. From the pro shop crew to the young men doing carts and ball pick up on the range. Couldn't ask for a better group out there. That personally out weighs the course conditions. I receive a hello or a wave of the hand from grounds grew and the bar tenders. Taj and Becca are making great progress on the course. As weeks passed , Taj didnt quite make his goal of end of july for the greens to be good again. However they are better as every week passes. That tells me the owners are serious about making the couse one of the best in the area again. Thats what keeps me showing up every morning to hit balls on the range and play a round 5 times a week. Dont loose that determination guys. I believe The Golf Course @ Branch River will be great again

Oof. Really bad all around as far as the shape of the course goes, especially the greens that had your ball bouncing like crazy from all the rough/dead spots. Bunkers either like cement or overgrown with weeds. Fairway looked no different than the rough on many holes. Honestly needs to be shut down and revamped completely or its reputation will be completely ruined.

Run down course, but has potential to be a nice little hidden gem with some tlc. Golf Shop is non existent with nothing in it. No food really. Bunkers overgrown.

I understand it's fall but I've been to 3 other courses in last 2 days and this was the absolute worst one. Greens were terrible, so fast and rutted they needed speed limit signs. Always great when you drive up to where you hit ur ball and it's disappeared either in some pot holes or under the masses of leaf piles. They should be like other courses I've been to and get their lawnmowers out to chop up the big piles. Unless they're counting on all the "lost" balls for their driving range. Was planning on playing 18 but decided I couldn't take the stress, headaches that would come with it. I will give it another shot more into golfing season at some point.

Golfed there today. Noticeable improvements from just 3 weeks ago. The new owners are committed to making this place great and I think they will do it. The task they are taking on a a big one, but if you are invested in golf in Manitowoc county it is well worth the reasonable rates.
