Disappointing Experience at Northern Bay Resort I'm extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Northern Bay holf course. The course was in horrible shape. The condition of the course was a major letdown, especially considering the high price point. To make matters worse, the employee at the check-in counter was incredibly rude and unfriendly. They seemed completely uninterested in helping us or addressing our concerns. Overall, I would not recommend to anyone. The poor condition of the course and subpar customer service make it not worth the price. Hopefully, the management will take steps to improve the course and train their staff to provide better service. *Rating:* 1/5 stars *Would not recommend.*

The fairway conditions were extremely poor, resembling sand rather than grass. For the price charged, the course was highly disappointing. Additionally, the staff member I interacted with was rude and disrespectful, which further diminished the overall experience.

Had a great round of golf. Was worried based on previous reviews. Course was well kept, fun place to just play and enjoy. Glad we took the chance to play, especially through using a daily deal.

Attempted to golf today and talked to a very rude person named Derek, who stated he was the manager of the golf course. We had to cancel our tee time because of the weather, and we had children we did not want to play in the rain. It was pouring out and he called us disrespectful and told us we were rude even though we apologized. He also red listed us. I will tell everybody I know to never go to this golf course ever again. Clearly, it was raining, pouring out.

Proximity to our rental made Northern Bay an easy choice. The Good 1. Replica Holes (Some) A few replica holes were impressively crafted—especially #10 (inspired by #17 at TPC Sawgrass) and #18 (a take on Bay Hill’s final hole). For a moment, you could feel the essence of those legendary layouts. Their location near the clubhouse and patio was a smart touch for visual appeal. 2. Pro Shop Solid selection of apparel, souvenirs, and accessories from top golf brands. Better than expected for a course of this caliber. 3. Beverage Cart Friendly service—our cart attendant made the rounds at least four times during the round. Much appreciated. 4. Landscape The course winds through a beautiful piece of land, weaving between the woods and Northern Bay Resort condos. Scenic and peaceful. The Not-So-Good 1. Replica Holes (Some) Not all replicas hit the mark. Hole #11, modeled after Augusta’s #13, barely resembled it. If not for the sign, we wouldn’t have known. 2. Fairways and Grass Fairway conditions were disappointing—patchy and inconsistent. The ball often sat down rather than up. Strangely, the rough sometimes offered a better lie. The lack of defined fringe around greens didn’t help. Turf quality felt more like a budget muni than a destination course. 3. Bunkers Bunker variety was strong, but the sand quality missed the mark. Instead of soft silica, it was hard-packed and more like play sand. Shots came out unpredictably—definitely not tour-standard conditions. Conclusion Northern Bay sits on a great piece of Wisconsin land and benefits from the charm of being nestled within the resort without feeling overly "resorty." With the right grass and proper bunker sand, this could become a hidden gem—especially given its proximity to Sand Valley. Would we play again? Maybe. Not in a rush to return, but if we were staying nearby, it might be worth another shot. Price A bit steep. $60 with cart and range balls would feel more appropriate for the current conditions.
