Update: Took my crew of 15 golfers out to Trout Lake on 9/4 & 9/6. General consensus was that they love the new layout, improved scenic views and friendly staff. Love the new green at #11. Only complaints I heard was that a couple of the new greens were "tricked" up, no halfway house and that we had to start our round on the 10th hole which made our favorite finishing hole (#18) become the 9th hole for our tournament. That being said, we plan on being back in 2026 as the course matures and hopefully my friend group matures with it. Thanks for having us! Jim Sullivan Glenview, IL My son and I played the course on 7/30. Have played here 50 times over 35 years. Really love the new design features and opening up views to the water on multiple holes. The 425 yard par 5 is a bit of a head scratcher but allowed me to birdie so all is forgotten lol. Course is still a work in progress as some greens have dead spots, fairways damaged and the rough is either still growing or has construction sand/gravel in it-hence the 3 star rating. That being said, this course will be awesome in another year or two. I'm coming back 9/4 and 9/6 with 15 other golfers so should be a blast especially with the best finishing hole in the area! Really enjoyed our round here. We played 9 holes on two different days with our young kids, and the experience was great. The course layout is well-designed, and with a few recently redone holes, you can see it developing into a really nice track. Don’t mind the reviews about the condition, it’s been redone and will take a year or two to recover fully. It cuts through the woods and runs along the Trout River, making for a scenic and enjoyable play. The staff was wonderful—very friendly and had no issue with the kids riding along. We’d definitely recommend it for golfers of all levels.

This course has potential but missed it on several points. They've done a massive restructuring of the golf course which shows a lot of potential. Unfortunately there are areas of the fairways and greens that are still in need of a lot of work before they are ready. This would be fine if the course was run well. Unfortunately, the day we golfed the course decided to let a group of 6 start the day that caused a major backup on the course. At home 9 there were 5 groups backed up and we started at 7:30am. This was beyond disappointing turning a 4 hour round into 5 even though we started early. This course would be 'worth it' if they could pace play better or the course was in better condition. The way it is now, it's not worth the price they charged.

Played the course today with a few family members. Weather was cloudy, colder, and it had rained the night before. We all really enjoyed the course. The greens and fairways were in great shape. You can see where the new sod is and it seems to be taking well. The greens were fun, challenging and rolled true. This is my favorite golf course in the area and play it whenever I am in town. The new holes that were made are great and made the course that much more playable. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the new layout. After a season of grass growing it will be even better. The price was the same as other courses and cheaper than some.

This is my new top public course to play in the state without going broke. The redesign is awesome and the course will only improve. Hopefully a state open or amateur is here in the near future. Scott and staff are doing an amazing job.
